“Last minute gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 December 2011

We called up after looking for a room that night somewhere next to the Glenshee Ski centre - this place is a 10 minute drive from the north. A triple room was offered even though there were just two of us. The couple running it were very friendly and accomodating, the rooms were very clean, breakfast was great and the lodge itself was fantastic. You can't go wrong for the price. Only bad thing was the not so warm shower, but I can live with that given the overall service provided.

“Good accommodation and great boot storage facility!”

We stayed here before and after a three day walking trip in the cairngorms and the accommodation was excellent. The weather was even good enough to allow us to make use of the well kept lawn and bar facilities. Best of all though, when I left my walking boots on a window ledge( placed there due to smell issues...) the owners took them in and looked after them for months before I was able to organise a pick up for them. Now that's customer service!

“The best family holiday EVER!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 November 2011

sharing the bunkhouse with 10 other family members was just the best holiday we could imagine.
the location was just a few short minutes walk from town. the town itself is so quaint and lovely with many shops for every taste.
many eateries, coffe shops and restaurants and also a convenience store with just about everything you could need.
There are many places to see nearby, so much history and so beautiful.
the kitchen in the bunkhouse was fantastic, this gave us the option to eat in or eat out in the town.
A great pub in the town gave us some fun night life also.
this location is awesome, the town beautiful and interesting, the people friendly, and if youre planning on attending the Highland Games you couldn't find a better place to stay than here.

Room Tip: there are cabins and the bunkhouse and also rooms in the hotel

“food only”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 October 2011

A meal for two adults and two children, 2 beers, one glass of wine, one g&t and two soft drinks cost over £75. Whist the service, etc was fine, the food was no better than average. We didn't think this was terribly good value.

“Food ok, rude”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 October 2011

We were staying nearby and the Braemar Lodge was recommended for Dinner. We arrived and firstly went to the bar and asked to look at the menu. We ordered and thought that the service for us was fine. However, whilst sitting in the bar area enjoying the cosy fire and Deer heads on the wall, another couple arrived and ordered two coffees. They were told that they would only serve them if they were eating as they only had a table licence. The couple then reitterated that they only wanted coffee and they were turned away by a man saying 'We are not a coffee shop'. Not good service if you rely on tourist trade.
