“Midweek 4 Day break”

Mon to Fri break, roon was very large with seperate sitting room which made for a very cosy winter break. On the edge of the Royal Balmoral Estate the scenery around the area is out standing with beautifull walks all around. Staff at the Hotel were all very helpfull and worked hard with no request being a problem, there was also a real fire in the reception/sitting area which was very welcoming on a cold day. This also acted as a focal point in the evening where people gathered to share drinks and conversation. All in all a very pleasent stay in a property that has some real history attached to it but you will need to stay here to find out for youself..

Room Tip: Room 4 has its very own small cosy sitting room.

Dear William P:

I’m glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us and I look forward to welcome you back in the near future. I agree with you, our hotel has a perfect location for walkers or skiers as Glenshee or the Lecht are only 10 or 15 miles away.

“enjoyable visit”

Stayed Mon to Fri for a ski break found the staff very pleasant and helpful , room needs a refurb but saying that it was clean, comfortable and warm with all the usual facilities, the views from our window were incredible and no we didn't pay extra for them ! The breakfasts were lovely and plentiful with lots of choice. Dinner choices were a little disappointing but was obviously catering for the coach parties which is the mainstay of its business. Intend to stay again.

“If only the standards inside matched the outside”

At first glance this is a lovely looking hotel from the outside, the sort of place you would expect to provide some traditional charm and warmth.

Sadly this is not the case and you will find that this is a coaching hotel first and foremost. Now, I have nothing against coaching hotels other than the fact that food tends to be of the budget variety as it was here and very often the interiors and housekeeping are not up to much.

My room had a lingering damp smell and the soft furnishings were stained.

The staff were apologetic when I complained but that was all they could do.

I would rather stay somewhere else next time.

I’m really sorry to read that you didn’t enjoyed your stay with us. I would like to say that we are not just a coaching hotel, we also have lots of self drive customers. We proud ourselves for offering good value for money and we get lots of good compliments from our clients. We have an on-going refurbish plan in place and we are refurbrishing all the rooms

“Terrible Tea”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 January 2012

Popped into the Invercauld Arms on the recommendation of my wife who remembered it as a grand Scottish hotel. We were not staying but the hotel says non-residents welcome. Asked the manager at reception if we could order afternoon tea. He directed us to the bar.
Yes tea was no problem we were told but there's no food at the moment (4pm).
"Perhaps a biscuit or piece of shortbread?" my wife asked.
"No, but we do have crisps!"
The tea came and was terrible.
Perhaps the sight of four coaches parked behind the hotel (and no cars) should have been a warning - fine if you are on a coach tour of the UK such as Shearings, but very disappointed.

we stayed here with shearings for a 4 night break at the end of november. as it was our anniversary my husband paid extra for view room. it was disgusting.the headboard was filthy stained with longterm greasy heads the bathroom was scruffy with broken lino and old cracked bath and toilet. curtains were full of cobwebs at the top. we complained and was immediately put into a suite at no extra cost. it was lovely, all newely refurbed, they were also very apologetic. food was very pleasant considering we were coach party, bar staff nice and reception good if you needed anything. it was quite cold whilst we were there but an extra heater was produced. just get those other rooms done FAST

Room Tip: ASK FOR UPGRADE OR YOU MIGHT GET BAD ROOM we were upgraded and it was great like we were in a differ...
