EXCELLENT HOTEL!!!!, Beautiful rooms, lovely kind staff, really fantastic hotel, definitely worth staying!! Cheap, but not at all obvious, 5* in every way!!! Shall definitely stay there again!!

I was booked into this hotel by my company although i cant hold them responsible because if they had read the reviews on this site they probably thought they were doing the right thing. All i can say is either the people who wrote the favourable reviews dont get out very often or they were written by members of staff,
My experience of the hotel was not good at all.
The welcome by the receptionist was very warm and friendly, she was very helpful offering to book a table in the restaurant for myself and a colleague as "the restaurant gets very busy and the food is delicious".
The 3 course meal was £10 (i should have realised) it was dreadful. Naff 70's menu, i'm surprised there wasnt Black Forest Gateaux on it!
The meal was inedible really although i did eat some. The drinks were very expensive!
Rooms are very tired and the whole hotel is in need of an upgrade.
Restaurant staff were ok, not great.
I usually stay at Premier Travel Inns and there really is no comparison.
I would never stay here again!

Stayed for an overnight to go to a couple of places nearby - very friendly staff - evening meal average but cheap -not much food left when we went down for breakfast due to there being a bus party in - otherwise couldn't fault

We only stayed one night as our plan was to visit Edinburgh from Glasgow, but didn't want to drive into the city. It is ideally located between the two cities with the train station right beside it! The reception staff were very helpful, although the restaurant staff were a bit slow and we had someone bring out food to us every time we had a new course. There was no internet access, which was a bit disappointing for a modern hotel. The rooms were comfortable, clean and quiet
