This was my first stay at a Premier Inn, as this was closest to my business meeting the next morning. I booked their meal deal which, at £22 for 3-course dinner and unlimited premier breakfast is fantastic value for money.
The hotel staff is fantastic. Very polite and friendly. The check-in procedure was flawless. I required an iron and a board, which reception promptly gave me. The iron was very good quality and in good condition. This may sound silly, but I've been in hotels (higher rated), where their trouser press or iron wasn't capable of even putting a stamp on a letter, let alone iron any clothes!
The restaurant is good, food was nice, and they have a nice pub, providing a good venue to unwind at the end of the day, or conduct a small business meeting.
However, my criticism has to be the restaurant service. It took me 2 hours to have dinner (on my own), and a whole hour from the time I finished my starter until the mains was served. The staff were always polite and apologetic, and to be honest, they didn't seem overly stressed or busy with work, leading me to think this is more of a kitchen organisational issue than the serving staff.
I am hoping this was an one off, even though the restaurant was busy, but not packed.
Other than my dinner experience, it was a fantastic stay, and the bed, linen, and pillows was really good, providing for a restful night. If I can be picky, I'd wish the shower wasn't a fixed position job, as that leads to inevitably getting a few seconds of cold water when switching from the tap to the shower. But when going, was a good, invigorating flow.
