Mercure Livingston
I was recently working in Livingston and saw this hotel on our company travel agents web site.
I was quite curious as I had never heard of the Mercure in Livingston before. Anyway, I booked it and then as soon as the confirmation came through I went cold as I realised it was the Ramada Jarvis that I had sworn never to stay in again following my last visit.
So, I duly arrived and first impressions were "wow, Mercure have really changed this place and all for the better!". They were just doing something with the doors when I arrived - possibly amending them to the new branding.
Check in was fairly swift - the young receptionist was functional rather than smiley - I always want to say "come on cheeky, give us a smile" to young ladies who appear to have the weight of the world on their shoulders.
So, on to my room and first impressions were mixed. It was very cold in the room - would it really hurt to heat it a little prior to guests arrival? On the plus side though, the room felt much newer than the last time I stayed there. It had a nice big television, looked to have new fittings and felt very comfortable.
Prior to dinner we went to the bar to have drinks and the atmosphere felt relaxed and I was happy.
We then decided to walk to the local restaurant where we were meeting up with colleagues and can confirm we did not see any druggies or other miscreants.
Breakfast in the morning was nice and the staff in the restaurant were pleasant.
Overall then definitely improved under Mercure branding and somewhere I would now be happy to stay in future.
Room Tip: Ask for a 'studio' room - they seemed the best ones

Dear Guest
Thank you for your feedback on your stay with us.
I am pleased that some of the changes we have made have been noticed and we will continue with these under the Mercure brand.
I was also please to see that you found the area around the hotel much improved. There has been a lot of ground work and clearance completed at the now renamed Jubilee Pond including new fences and walkways plus replanting of flower beds and the waters. Overall it is now a much more pleasant walk through to the convenient shopping centre.
We hope we can welcome you back to Mercure again in the future.
Kind Regards,
Nick Williams
