We stayed here with friends on a 5 night tour of the Outer Hebrides at the end of May 2011. We paid extra for superior rooms which were very small. Glad we did not go for the standard rooms! We had been told this was one of the better hotels in the area but we were a bit disappointed. They say first impressions of a hotel are very important and I agree. The check in was fine but when we went into the bar we encountered a most surly foreign barman, who was wasting a staggering amount of lager when pouring a pint for myself. It was so bad that I commented and suggested that maybe I should try something else. I was most surprised when he just shrugged his shoulders and said it was not a problem as it was not his money he was wasting! We booked a table in the restaurant for 8 pm and the quality of the food was excellent but the service was far too quick. We had finished our 3 course meal by 9 pm. We heard later that a number of the staff were going to a function in the adjacent inn which was maybe why they were so keen to rush us. I think we were disappointed because we had expected more. Would we go back? Perhaps. We maybe just got them on a bad day. The big plus was the food at both breakfast and dinner was very good and the rooms were clean and comfortable. It is also well situated for exploring the area.
