“Lovely Base for Holiday to Skye”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 January 2011

I have stayed at this place twice now and have really enjoyed it. The owners are very nice and welcoming, the problems mentioned in other reviews regarding car parking are not actually true - there is a massive car park straight in front of the B & B. Me and my partner are very clean people and did not notice anything being dirty. I stayed in one of the caravans as I have a dog and it was very spacious and good value. It's a great base to explore Skye to see Portree, Sligachan, etc with the added bonus of going to the Western Isles, which I did and thoroughly enjoyed. For the price I paid, you can't go wrong with the location, the scenery or the accommodation itself.

“An awful disappointment.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 August 2010

My partner and I arrived at The Orasay guesthouse late afternoon in order to stay overnight to catch the ferry the following day to Lochmaddy. Neither of us were impressed with the en-suite facilities which comprised of a cupboard in the room which had been converted to a shower room, but only had a sliding louvered door for privacy, not even a solid door. The beds were really uncomfortable, with protruding springs in mine. As for the breakfast the following morning, that too was a huge disappointment. The owners of the guesthouse open up early to members of the public waiting for the early ferry. There were workers coming in and out, to order their morning filled rolls etc, whilst we wailted for our breakfast. Not a relaxing experience at all. We will never be back and I would certainly not recommend this to anyone. A very bad start to the holiday.

“Our hosts were warm and welcoming, and the position very convenient for the ferry”

Our hosts were warm and welcoming.
We stayed in one of the caravans which was large, clean and comfortable. With only the two of us we had lots of room, a lounge with television to ourselves, two double bedrooms and decent shower it was very good.
A good breakfast was served
The location is very close to the ferry to the outer Hebrides, so very convenient for the morning sailing, we stayed five days here, it made a good base for exploring northern Skye.

“Warm welcome, Very friendly, helpful & clean”

I really feel that the comments previously added were very unfair. The B&B IS very clean & comfortable, they must have put provisions in place regarding the dogs as the dogs were kept out the back. I have stayed here a couple of times and the couple that run the B&B were so helpful. There was absolutely nothing wrong with breakfast, all you have to do is ask and you can get what ever you request. Parking was not a problem as there is a reasonably large car park directly in front of the B&B which can hold roughly about 50 cars. It is the perfect place to stay as you are within walking distance to the ferry. It is value for money.

“Awful”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 March 2009

I stayed one night before the morning ferry. The welcome was non-existant (I also parked in the wrong place apparently - I shold have left my car in the street) The room was tiny - no en-suite. Heating was minamilistic so I ended up in bed early. No lounge. As for breafast - a freezing cold miserable affair. Do not go to this B&B. It is awful. JM.

I think the person in question stayed here in Feb. Firstly he did not even come to the door to introduce himself, just opened our gate and drove in, then asked if it was okay to park on the drive, when I stated most people parked in the car park directly in front of our house, as we have caravans as well we need emergency vehicle access at all times, he said he would appreciate being allowed to park there, so we said okay. Then I believe this person has lied from then on, the rooms are all centrally heated with their own thermostats, the single room is big enough to fit 2 single beds in if required, only 1 was in the room at this time. We have excellent for cleanliness by the Scottish tourist board and breakfasts.which are NEVER served cold. This person then proceeded to pinch the tv remote, I had to go out to his vehicle and ask for it back! David and Anne Healey
