This is for the Pub, the Dining room, and the Rooms.
Arriving on a rainy day, mid-afternoon from Portree. We were early since we canceled a couple possible walking hikes on the North end of Skye. The Inn has a cozy little "bistro" off on the right side of the building. Here, we settled in with a couple of rather entertaining locals and had a couple of bar food nibbles for lunch -- carrot and coriander soup, a bowl of mussels in white wine and cream, and a couple fish cakes.
The barkeep informed us that our room was indeed ready and we could check in anytime, but we had a few more pints and a few more laughs with the local caracters before retiring upstairs around 1530..
On our way up, I checked out the menu... mmm... langostines! So I instantly made a dinner reservation. Overhearing me mentioning langostines, the Innkeeper quickly apologized and said, "We haven't had them for days! The weather has been so rough, the fisherman have not been able to go out!". But she added, "check back after 5PM, when the boat comes in, maybe they will have some." We then went upstairs to sleep off a pint or two.
Down to the dining room and the Innkeeper whispered, "We have your langostines!, they just came in." Well I was happy. The Mate ordered Salmon grilled with herbs, and we split another bowl of mussels as a starter. Langostines -- let me tell you, I was shocked--- 16 of these spiny creatures appeared, looking at me with those black beady eyes, on my plate! I doubt any could be fresher or better cooked. I sucked every bit of goodness out of them -- from the claws to the heads. I have never had better before or since! They lived and died for a good cause... me! The mate said the salmon was outstanding and loved the garden fresh veggie sides.
The room? Ask for a front harbor-view room. ours was spotlessly clean, comfy with very nice hot shower. Well above average by Scotland standards. Don't think some of the other reviewers were in the same place. Maybe some cannot appreciate Scottish humor. Barkeep/Innkeeper was fun!
