I have just spent 3 days exploring the Island of Skye with a tour called Rabbies. Much to my dissapointment, Rabbies travel booked my accomodation at The Harbour Lodge in Portree. My only advise would be stay ANYWHERE but here! There are only 3 rooms in this so called lodge and all are dated and revolting. My heater did not work, nor did they service the room the next day. I was charged a ridiculous 48 pounds per night (even though it clearly advertises 15 pounds per person per night). Staff were no where to be seen at ALL times- even when I checked out I could not pay them their overpriced tariff for a complete hovel. Instead I had the inconvenience of having to give the money to my tour operator to give to them. The Harbour Lodge do not take any credit card payments either. The only redeeming factor is that it is situated right on the towns tiny harbour.

Nice place, but our view was into the neighbors backyard and house (not much for privacy, as their view was into our room). Nice room, clean bathrooms, good breakfast. Overall friendly and helpful hosts. I think in the future I'd stay at their self-catering accommodations down on the water, which seemed very nicely located.

We stayed three nights at the Harbor Lodge and are going back at our first opportunity.

The Harbor Lodge is a small, self catering hotel RIGHT ON the harbor in Portree. The views out of the rooms are excellent. The pictures of the rooms on their web site don't do them justice. They have been recently re-done and are clean and have comfortable furnishings. You have access to a large kitchen with everything you need.

Looking out the window or walking down the streets of Portree is very relaxing. The beauty of the island and the friendliness of the people are all around you.

There is a pub less than 50 yards down the street that has a warm and friendly atmosphere. There are several places to eat within yards of your door.

This hotel is a good deal and provides great views, nice rooms at a ver convenient location.

If there was a down side, it is that parking near the lodge can be a little hard to find later in the evening. Park you car near the hotel earlier in the evening and walk. You can walk to anyplace in Portree in just a few minutes.
