“Did not let us down”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

Just got back from a couple of days in Portree. As a Valentines treat hubby booked us in to the Bosville. What a lovely stay again. The staff very friendly and cheery. Our room was warm, clean and welcoming overlooking the harbour with a bottle of pink fizz as promised. Breakfast was enjoyable, plenty to eat, extra coffee and toast if you wanted. The highlight was the Valentines meal on Saturday, absolutely delicious, great flavours, great taste, wonderful!!!!! Best meal for a long time. Only slight criticism is that the showers could be a bit more powerful, but that's nothing major. I love Skye, had a lovely little walk to the Coral Beaches, had 9 sightings of seals, brilliant. The weather may not always be great, but the scenery, views and the welcome more than make it a place to visit. Can't wait to go back again and again and again.

Room Tip: Try and get a room overlooking the harbour

“VERY DISAPPOINTED”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 January 2012

Ended up booked inot this hotel after it's sister hotel could not accommodate us on the days we had booked and confirmed. I was reassured that everythign would be done to ensure our stay was a pleasant one but unfortunately there were continuing problems. The room itself was a reasonable size and clean but tend to agree with other reviewers who state that the website oversells the accommodation. I do not mind noise in the street but the squeaky floorboards in the room above ours were horrendous, enough to stop you from sleeping when people were moving around. We had a superior room overlooking the street and harbour. The staff were friendly and pleasint, however, our party of 6 were overcharged £2 a head for the 'fixed price' menu, and the staff were not really apologetic when we pointed this out. We waited over ten minutes for them to sort it out and ended up telling them just to keep the excess as a tip. The 3 course menu was priced at just under £40 and the cranachan dessert was a soggy dissapointment. At the time of booking I was assured that we could also eat from the bistro menu, however, this was not in fact available for 2 nights of our stay and so we took our business elsewhere, a poor business move and the hotel's loss. My final gripe was we were again overcharged by £33 when checking out. The staff amended my bill but asked me to e mail them confirmation of the agreed booking price once I got home. I was very unhappy at this after being told that there should be no further hiccups with my reservation. For this reason, I would not use the Bosville again.

Room Tip: Superior rooms fairly spacious but others very cramped. Those to back of hotel face a brick wall.

“Noisy and expensive”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2012

I had a one night stay here booked by my office. Upon initial inspection it wasn't the sort of hotel I would book myself.

The most important thing for me when staying anywhere is the need for a good nights sleep. This was very difficult at this hotel with constant noise throughout the night and then from outside very early in the morning.

I spoke to out travel booker after I had left the hotel and was surprised to hear the price - I would have stayed at a proper 4star in the central belt for this kind of money.

“Very good restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 January 2012

We didn't stay at the hotel, we just lunched at the restaurant.
Certainly a good place to eat at Portree.
Very good prices, and food. Good and friendly staff. Good ambience.

“Brilliant stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 December 2011

Don't understand all the other reviews, maybe it's changed hands since, but our stay was superb, extremely friendly and efficient staff. The hotel is by far the best in Portree I have stayed in, very nice large room and the bar was great too. I would definitely stay here again.
