“Just lovely”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 January 2012

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Rosedale Hotel. The welcome at reception was the best we had received during our Highland tour. Our room was on the first floor with a stunning veiw of the Harbour - I could have sat at the window all day. The room itself was spotless and beautifully decorated. Having got a little lost looking for the Restaurant Paul explained that the Hotel was formally several fisherman's cottages joined together - explaining all the wee stair cases. If you want stark travel lodge style accommodation where every room is the same in both decore and size then the Rosedale is not for you however if you want a real Scottish welcome in a quirky and very comfortable hotel then look no further. Having walked round a couple of the other hotels in Portree we were delighted we chose the Rosedale.

Room Tip: A Harbour Veiw is worth the extra

“A Jewel Of A Hotel, Mounted On A Glittering Isle”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 December 2011

Put Simply...The Rosedale exceeded expectation.

The traditional feel and quirky layout allowed us to consume the cultural experience of 'Bonny Scotland' with aplomb. Staff were extremely accommodating of every want and need but more importantly the room and location were altogether stunning. Truly a wonderful environment to absorb the offerings of the west coast of Scotland. I'm taking my friends with me next time...

Exactly what we were seeking from the outset.

“Great Harbor View & Friendly Staff, But...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 November 2011

I was very excited when our tour guy pointed to the harbor and told us that we would be staying in the little hotel right in front of the harbor. Unfortunately, it fell short. The harbor view rooms have excellent views and the staff are extremely friendly. The restaurant is nice and it was an absolute treat sipping coffee in the morning while overlooking the harbor. However, the rooms and the stairs are dated and not easy to maneuver. I really wanted to love this hotel - it has so much potential. With some renovation, it could be the most charming B&B, it's just not there yet.

Room Tip: Definitely worth getting a harbor view room.

“A beautiful place but a disappointing hotel”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 November 2011

We went on a 3 day tour of the Isle of Skye. The only disappointing part was the Rosedale Hotel. The staff were very nice but the accommodations were less than what we expected. The room was not very clean and there was very little room to unpack ones clothes. We paid extra to stay at a hotel rather than a B & B but wish we had stayed at the latter.

“A charming stopover on the Misty Isle”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 November 2011

My wife and I stayed two nights at this delightful little hotel on the Isle of Skye. We were checked in by a smiling gentleman who also gave us a wee dram of scotch and then offered to carry our bags up to our room. The hotel consists of three fishermens cottages combined, and as such is full of character, with narrow staircases and unusual shaped rooms. We were given a small bedroom with a magnificent view of the bay, and the room was most comfortable with it's tiny en suite bathroom, and everything needed for an overnight stay. Breakfast was more than adequate and we chose a smoked fish selection at no extra charge which was delicious, and served with a smile. The hotel is only a couple of minutes walk from the centre of Portree which has many shops and restaurants. At the end of our two days stay, one of the staff immediately offered to bring our cases down from the room which was much appreciated. If you are staying in Portree, do stay here, you cannot do better.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view room, you will not be disappointed.
