We stayed in the Portree apartment which is in an old restored building down by the harbour's edge. The apartment is over two floors and is nicely decorated and furnished. Also, it's well equipped for self-catering. The entrance, up a staircase, took a little time to get used to but it is after all in a restored old building ( the terrace of houses on the quay must be the most photographed view in Portree and features on many postcards ).
What makes this apartment unique is its location. Overlooking a small working harbour one can sit by the window watching an ever-changing view in all weathers. Tide, wind and weather all affect the vista. Small fishing boats bob up and down alongside pleasure craft. Wildlife too....all sorts of sea birds and seals. We spent hours just watching it all! Hustle and bustle by day and very quiet at night,
As the apartment is right in the town all the amenities ( restaurants, supermarket,, shops, etc. ) are a short walk away. The owners were very helpful with touring/walking suggestions and with restaurant recommendations.
