“Disappointing”

We spent two nights in the apartment Fada. We wanted to treat ourselves to something nice. The high price and the Internet have taught us that.
We previously had nice contact via e-mail. Locally was a welcome letter and some snacks. The promised wine was missing. The toast of poor quality. You can simply call the landlord if it is needed. It has a direct dial telephone.
The apartment is located on a one-lane road. Quiet it is not. You can park right next to the stairs.
The furniture is selected appropriately and sometimes quality. The bed is bad, because it is a spring mattress. You can feel every little movement of the other person in bed. Otherwise, you have plenty of space.
To clean: under the bed was a lot of dust. The bathroom has mold on the ceiling. No wonder you can barely open the windows.
Directly at the house, it has thousands of mosquitoes. It is hard to come by car into the house without having to be stung. That was really bad. Otherwise, we had 14 days anywhere mosquitoes.
Quite honestly, we had expected something better for the price.

“Fada is absolutely fabulous”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 June 2011

What can I say that others havent. It is a beautiful appartment with lovely views across the Loch and up to the old man of storr - when it isnt raining! ! An idea base for exploring and near enough to Portree for restraunts etc.
Colin and Kate have put alot of thoiugh into this place and we loved the little extra touch of bread and milk etc.
We would thoroughly recommend it if you want to get away from it all. Many thanks.

“Wow, what an exelent apartment”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 May 2011

We have been in the upper apartment of this two storey house. Its location next to the loch is totally awesome. You can have a panoramic view out of almost every window of this studio apartment.

It is well equipped with modern furniture and an almost complete kitchen. If the weather is bad you can stay inside and still have a decent view of the nature around you.

The procedure of getting the key to this apartment was quiet easy. It was described very well and in detail in an email we got early before our vacation.

There was hardly any noise noticable from the people downstairs.

“Fantastic Fada.....Shimmering Silver Skye”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 May 2011

My Hubby and I were looking for somewhere chic yet comfortable to stay whilst on our trip to Skye, and we stumbled across Nigel and Katie's little place, simply gorgeous.
The apartment; Fada....is located just north of Portree and brilliantly a stone throws away from The Old Man of Storr opposite a fantastic view of the lake and hebrides beyond. It is beautifully decorated; clean and modern with the touch of warmth from someone who appreciates everyone needs somewhere comfortable to rest after a long day full of activities.
When we arrived Nigel and Katie had left us a wonderful selection of goodies in a basket to enjoy...just the essentials for a self-catering break; breakfast cereal, fresh bread, hot chocolate and cooking oils and so on..the things you always forget to bring that you need. Combined with a fantastic welcome note and yummy easter egg bundle we were set for our Easter weekend.
During our stay we really only used the apartment as a base as Skye has lots to offer and Nigel and Katie had kindly left us a bundle of information on walks and exciting things to do during our stay...... We especially enjoyed the hiking, sunsets and magical waterfalls....and even took a boat ride to wander freely around Loch Coruisk on a wonderfully sunny day, there is something for everyone in Skye.
Skye is a stunningly beaufitul place and it shimmers silver on any day come rain or shine and the apartment shimmers brightly as one of the most wonderful and serene places to stay on the island.
We had a most brilliant stay and felt totally relaxed from the moment we arrived to when we left, we would definitely recommend this to anyone who wishes to visit Skye and to enjoy the fantastic apartment fada.....Thank you Nigel and Katie, we look forward to joining you again soon.

Thank you for a brilliant stay and we will definately be back.

“Fantastic location by the harbour's edge”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 December 2010

We stayed in the Portree apartment which is in an old restored building down by the harbour's edge. The apartment is over two floors and is nicely decorated and furnished. Also, it's well equipped for self-catering. The entrance, up a staircase, took a little time to get used to but it is after all in a restored old building ( the terrace of houses on the quay must be the most photographed view in Portree and features on many postcards ).

What makes this apartment unique is its location. Overlooking a small working harbour one can sit by the window watching an ever-changing view in all weathers. Tide, wind and weather all affect the vista. Small fishing boats bob up and down alongside pleasure craft. Wildlife too....all sorts of sea birds and seals. We spent hours just watching it all! Hustle and bustle by day and very quiet at night,

As the apartment is right in the town all the amenities ( restaurants, supermarket,, shops, etc. ) are a short walk away. The owners were very helpful with touring/walking suggestions and with restaurant recommendations.
