“Home from home and very peaceful”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2011

Stayed here for work for 3 nights on my own. The owners Iain and Carol were very friendly and would do anything for you. They have a lovely dog called moss who.wanders about. The food is fantastic and the drawing room With the real fire is lovely. They have an honesty bar where you can help yourself. My room was nice and clean and comfortable bed. I was above the living room in room 1 which was quite loud but was quiet by 10pm. The breakfast is lovely and fresh. The owners will not bother you but very willing to talk if you would like to chat I am definitely planning to go back with my husband as perfect location for Kyle and Skye. If you like u inform travel lodge don't stay here if you want crisp white sheets and room service -this is a more country house hotel and much better!

“Charming little place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 December 2010

The place was really charming.
Every place has it's Fawlty Towers moments, but in this case, they are by far outnumbered by the good ones.
The room was clean and spacious and so was the rest of the house. We had a nice chat over a drink in a gorgeous living room before we went off to our rooms.
Dinner was a bit on the overpriced side, but the breakfast was heaven. Yes, you do not get it the second you are seated at your table, but you get it fresh cooked and it takes no more than a normal amount of time. The honesty bar was a nice touch.
Loved the dog!

“Eccentric Owner”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 October 2010

Had a great stay here with a Rick Steves tour group. The food was excellent and the owner/chef was very entertaining. Each room is based on a Scottich Clan, we had the Anderson Clan room #12 in the carriage house. It was quiet and comfortable. The main house is very interesting in its decor and the bar was a self-serve honor system. Some rooms are in the main house, others are in the carriage house in the back.

“Quiet little haven”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 September 2010

Myself and My partner recently stayed for a weekend in this lovely hotel in one of the bigger four poster bed rooms with a jacuzzi.
There was a friendly warm welcome when we arrived even if so a little late as didnt account for so many roadworks. The room was well presented and comfortable.
Breakfast both mornings was superb and service always readily available.
On the day of the departure had a nice chat with the owner a good woman in my opinion aswell as a biker to.
Will be back soon hopefully as it was a nice relaxing break and well positioned for getting about on skye itself.

“Had high hopes, but unfortunately bad reviews were correct”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 August 2010

This is such a nice looking hotel and not far from Kyleakin itself. However, we arrived to find our room had been incorrectly booked by 'Visit Scotland' as a double instead as a family room and the look of reluctance from the woman on the desk to change our room was evident. She showed us to the door, pointed and walked off without a word..Not the best start, but customer service, from the reviews are not a strong point at his hotel as we had read from the previous reviews. The room was extremly nice, though could do with a bit of maintenance/modernisation (Mould on ceiling, chintz decor and unvarnished doors). Not too sure about the complimentry whisky in the kids room either but hey this is Scotland!

The hotel staff at breakfast were friendly, though it took 45 minutes to get breakast by the chef who was also the miserable receptionist. Maybe she wanted to get her own back on having to give us a family room?! Overall this is a delightful hotel which to all intents and purposes could be great if they eliminate the boss from the day to day running and bring someone in who knows basic customer service and a smile.
