I wasn't planning on writing a review on this hotel but after reading the recent comments, I feel it necessary to give my opinion. My friends and I visited this hotel summer of 2011. It was a terrible disappointment, such beautiful surroundings but a run down uncomfortable hotel with very unfriendly staff. We arrived at night and walked through a pitch black car park, managing to find the door but receiving no warm welcome. We were lead through a creepy old fashioned bar and to our rooms. The wallpaper was coming off the walls and some parts were mouldy. Having a shower required acrobatics: Involving arching your back at a 90 degree angle to reach the shower head! Even after the shower we felt dirty, and one of my friends slept in her coat as she felt so on edge. We had originally intended to stay for 2 nights but were so desperate to get out that we found alternative accommodation for the next night. We will not be returning to this hotel unless it is completely renovated and with new friendly, welcoming staff who don't write "positive" reviews on Trip Advisor

We were curious about this hotel as the reviews were quite mixed. We absolutely enjoyed our stay (2 nights) in the sea facing family room. The room heating was left on for us when we arrived which was very considerate. The hotel owner and staff were very friendly and extremely helpful, described the places for us to go around and see and even wrote them down for us with the route details. They even told us a much better route to take for our return leg than the one the sat nav preferred. The food was fantastic, both tasty and filling, real good pub grub. There was a fire lit in the bar which was really good considering the weather. Breakfast was really good as well. The hotel owner was very caring and even gave crisps and drinks for our girls when we left. The view from the hotel is absolutely stunning and cannot be better. The setting is just superb. The hotel room we stayed shows a bit of age, but we felt that some of the reviews left were really harsh. This place deserves nothing less than five stars. We absolutely enjoyed our stay and would happily stay in this place again. This place offers fantastic value for money, but much more valued than that, the warm and caring nature of the owner and staff.

We had the pleasure of staying here for three nights last month and I can honestly say we would stay again at the drop of a hat. Good food, hospitality, views and rooms.
Reading some of the negitive reviews on here I can only think these people are living in a parallel universe, where people dont have the bottle to say anything by way of complaint but are happy to assasinate peoples livleyhoods behind their backs, shame on you!!!
To any prospective guests, you are not paying five star prices, the hotel is great value for the money you are paying tho and the views and hospitality would not be out of place in a five star establishment.
To quote a previous guest, when god comes to Skye this is where he stays!!!!!!

The hotel is in the most beautiful location, the view is priceless. The building itself however, instantly makes you feel depressed. It is so unloved and gives the impression that the owners really do not want visitors. We did venture into the bar as beer was needed. We stood therefore for a good five minutes before there was movement in the corner. This was possble a girl but was difficult to tell. Without a word 'it' disappeared through a door and I am guessing 'mother' came through to serve us. Apart from the stero playing Enya there wasn't much of a welcome. The bar was at the back of the hotel and the stunning view was therefore wasted. There was a lounge but it was made abundantly clear that this was for residents only. A massive shame as those fortunate enough to visit this part of Skye deserve a warm welcome and indifference does not make a busiess flourish. Please can someone take over this hotel and make it beautiful and welcoming, not wasted.

“Lovely Hotel in amazing location with welcoming owners”

Stayed here for 2 nights, was welcomed by a roaring open fire in the bar on what was a bitterly cold and wet day upon arival... The owners were very friendly, had fish and chips the first night, the fish had just been caught that day and could not have been fresher or nicer (Or bigger)... Great views out of hotel over the bay, wifi available in the bar, (please note there were no TV's in the hotel but that just added to the peace and tranquility of the hotel and its views) when we were there they had guests from Canada, Australia, France and Germany stopping with them... one word of caution, dont play the owner at darts you will not win, he's a total shark... but the fact that the owner was willing to play darts in the bar with you shows how friendly they were....He even offered to lend us his map on day 2 and pointed out all the attractions on the island, some which are not on any guide and are well worth a visit.... would return to this hotel at the drop of a hat...
