“Great food, as fresh as the Skye air with accomodation to match”

My wife and our 10 week old daughter spent our wedding night at the Three Chimneys and stayed at their 'house over by' next door. The accomodation is superb with Loch views, the room had the sort of measured opulence you dream of for a special occassion. we dined at the restaurant two nights in a row, the reception at the House Over By offered a baby listening service so we could go and work our way through the tasting menu in the knoweldge our sprog was OK. the food was uncomplicated and hummed with freshness, the Langostine, much raved of by diners here, really were as good as they come, local lamb was delicious, puddings were of the lick your bowl clean variety and the wine list was easy to match with the food without having to take out a second mortgage, including some cracking half bottles. if you get to stay at the House Over By, which we would reccomend, the breakfast is worth travelling 700 miles by train for, and one to set a good hour aside for whilst watching seals playing in the loch outside the window. I can see many returns to the three chimneys over the coming years, the restaurant and rooms and the surrounding countryside are a delight.

Dear William F,

I asked for this review to be moved to the Hotels section from the Restaurant section, as we you mention your stay with us in The House Over-By, as well as your memorable meal in The Three Chimneys. As this was such a very special occasion for you and your wife and family, I am absolutely delighted that you had such a lovely time ad that the memories will live with you for ever. Please come back again - perhaps an aniversary visit? I hope so! We would all love to welcome you back again in the future.

“Wonderful Getaway”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 October 2011

Friends had recommended the Three Chimneys as a great getaway, and we were not disappointed. We spent 4 days and three nights there, enjoying innovative food (even for breakfast-try the porridge with malt whisky-you will not be disappointed), a great wine list that was not overpriced, as well as very friendly and attentive service (I fell ill the first night and the staff could not have been more gracious to try to help). A definite place to return to

“ONE OF THE BEST PLACES WE HAVE EVER STAYED”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 October 2011

Wonderful welcome, truly excellent food and very attentive staff made this a memorable three-night stay. We only took breakfast and dinner so we can't comment on lunch but the food at both breakfast and dinner was fresh, tasty and carefully prepared and served. Our room was spacious and comfortable and the view was wonderful. It was worth the 5.5 hour drive from Glasgow Airport, but if we return we will fly to Inverness as that's a shorter drive (under 3 hours).

Dear TerryMCA,

Thank you for this great review of your 3-night stay with us. I asked for this to be moved from the restaurant section to the hotels section, as you stayed with us as well as ate at the restaurant on each night. I think you might be the person whom Sarah, my receptionist, told me was (according to your wife!!) "a difficult man to please"! So, if this is correct, we are all extremely pleased that you enjoyed your stay and also enjoyed eating with us and commented so highly upon the level of service you received. It all counts - and we are very conscious that everything is important.

Thank you again and we all hope you will take-up that choice of flying from the south of England to our great wee airport at Inverness from where you can hire a car and enjoy the fabulous drive through the Highlands to Skye.

Come back soon!

“Memorable for every reason!”

Living in London, I took my girlfriend at the time on a driving journey around Scotland for our summer holiday. A key stop on the way for me was to surprise her with a night at the Three Chimneys restaurant and accommodation in the House Over-by. From the moment we arrived we were absolutely stunned by everything the Three chimneys has to offer. It is subtle and classy and perfectly arranged. The service is absolutely superb and that is from the moment you send your first enquiry. I had a few special requests that i wanted some help with and the Three Chimneys (especially Laura) were wonderfully helpful and responsive to all my queries.

We decided to have the Taste of Skye menu which is undoubtedly the best food I have eaten given the freshness and simplicity of combinations. Everything was lively and the atmosphere in the restaurant was great. It is a truly beautiful setting. We also asked the sommelier to take us on his 'wine journey' through the courses which was brilliant.

Overall the Three Chimneys experience was all I could ever ask for and so much more. The boat journey from Dunvegan Castle via the seal colony and dropping us at the restaurant was brilliant. The dinner stunning, the accommodation superb, the walk along the loch at the end of the night something special to remember. It was all very special thanks to the team at Three Chimneys - a flawless performance. I was especially delighted that it made my engagement later in the evening all that more memorable.

Thanks Three Chimneys – see you again as soon as possible!
