“Lovely view, however it was quite basic”

The welcome that I experienced was warm and pleasant, but apart from the welcome there is no service available. Stunning view, includes Hannah Morris's photography presented throughout. Rooms are fairly basic but the beds are comfortable. It had an unfinished, old and worn out feel.

Beautiful location, very remote and would require a car for travel to the local town Toblemory. There is a shared kitchen and sitting room with a flat-screen television and some games to play. The supplied continental breakfast is extremely disappointing - just packaged croissants with a 'coco filling'.

The shared kitchen & sitting room would be perfect for students and large parties. Would not recommend this B&B/hostel if you are looking for a luxurious retreat, but it might be perfect if what you want is an affordable bed for the night so that you can spend the rest of it exploring the Isle of Mull.

Hope this helps!

Hi there Emma P,
I'm glad to hear you found your stay warm and pleasant.
You stated that 'there is no service available' however our reception is open from 9:30am-7:30pm each day should you require any fresh towels, information or would like us to book excursions for you. Outside of these hours there is always somebody on site in case of an emergency.
Thank you for mentioning our 'beautiful location' which can also be reached by bus or taxi if you don't have a car.
I'm sorry to hear you found the breakfast disappointing. The breakfast is as advertised (a self-service continental breakfast) which enables guests to eat breakfast at whatever time suits them. Along with the croissants we do also have a selection of individual cereals, breads, jams, juices, cheese spreads and tea and coffee. Or guests are welcome to cook their own breakfast in the self catering kitchen.
Best regards,
Arle Lodge

Facilities were really good with amazing views over the sea. Seems to be a newish build so everything pretty much brand new

“The best of a B&B and a Hostel combined, superb views.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 October 2010

Just spent three days in this fantastically located Hostel-BB. The room was big, clean and very comfortable, and the kitchen/lounge were fantastic: very well equiped with an amazing view, I almost felt like not leaving the place to explore the island. The continental breakfast was more than appropriate and I loved the fact that the owners do not live in the same place, giving you independence at all times. Very friendly fellow tourists, very peaceful and quiet. Good selection of books to read, movies, etc...

If you go to Tobermory, do not miss the Fih&Chips van, the food is trully good. The Isle of Mull offers some of the best walking in the whole of Scotland.

“Good location but lacking in anything special”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 June 2010

Stayed here with our Australian friends. When I booked I asked whether the rooms had views as this was what I wanted wherever we stayed on Mull, I was assured that all rooms had good views. Our friends had an excellent view of the water, which was the main thing, but we had what can only be described as a broom closet! Very basic twin room with shower and toilet, no space at all. The property itself has very thin walls so I could hear the German couple snoring next door. Cost was £29 per person which included basic breakfast:: basic cereals, bread for toast. Saying all this, it did have an excellent location and would be wonderful for groups taking over the whole venue. The venue was full for most of the time we stayed which proved difficult for self catering.
