After an all night flight from NY, car rental in Edinburgh, Ferry in Oban, drive to Staffa House in Fionnphort where the 8pm sun hung forever....we were greeted by the lovely and welcoming host Gillian who showed us all around the light filled, immaculate surroundings. Well situated just across from Iona with a perfect view of the Abbey and a few minutes walk to the ferry. Still restless and in need of a wee dram, our host guided us after a nap to the local bar a two and a half minute walk. Surprisingly still open with Celtic music, a comfortable fire a few other couples. We were in what I believe is called the family room at the Staffa House and our bathroom was the size of a small NYC apartment with the best view in the house! We woke to the smell of home baked bread by Ali, who we did not meet but who provided the most stunningly perfect breakfasts! Gillian made our small group of 5 strangers feel very comfortable and at home. It is here we rested and prepared for a wonderful two week journey to Orkney and more of the midnight sun. We can't wait to go back.
P.S. The bar from the night before also had a restaurant that was perfect! Local Ale, fresh local meats and cheeses and super friendly service! We hardly had to do anything to have all of our needs filled! In Fionnphort we had dreamy restful few days we won't soon forget.
Room Tip: The family room in the front of the house.
