“Back to the Bellachroy!”

I first set foot in the Bellachroy in 1977 when I spent a very happy few weeks working there after finishing my A levels. I went back on several occasions in the early 80's but our most recent trip was my first time on the island in nearly thirty years. I'm delighted to say Mull hasn't changed a bit, nor has the warm welcome we received from Nick and his staff at the Bellachroy. What HAS changed is the food at the Bellachroy, which, whilst always good back in the day, is altogether more sophisticated here in the 21st century. I've never tasted such wonderful smoked salmon and the venison burger topped with haggis was a triumph. I confess I had been slightly worried that the magic of Mull might have faded in the intervening years, but I needn't have been concerned. We had a marvellous time and were looked after royally, and will definitely heading back again this year.

“Superb Bed & Breakfast”

We stay at Bellachroy for 2 nights in January for our random last minute trip to Scotland, and we loved every single moment we were there.

Firstly, as others say here, the host and staff are the best. We were very well taken care of. They are welcoming, friendly and very attentive. We had asked Nick about some walks around North Mull during dinner, and the following day, we found a booklet in our room! We had also asked about fish platter which wasn't in the menu in January, and they were willing to buy some fresh local fish for us and cook it for us at dinner.

We had a room upstairs with the bathroom and it was clean, warmly decorated and the shower in the bathroom is amazing. Dervaig is a cute village with amazing views and the location is convenient if you want to be close to a bigger town but at the same time want to go on a walk by the coast away from it.

Lastly, the pub is the place to go to mingle with the locals. Both of the nights we were there, we ended up having lovely chats (and many glasses of whiskey) with the local people talking about fishing, badminton..anything!

It was my first time in Scotland, and I am definitely going back to Bellachroy, Isle of Mull.

“Fresh Food Friendly Service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 November 2011

Ate here on our last night in Mull. We were a party of 16 so they accommodated us all around a large table upstairs. I started with Pork Belly and Black Pudding followed by Seafood Chowder and topped it off with Sticky Toffee Pudding and a Brandy. Couldn't fault anything.

Room Tip: They let us use on of the guest room bathrooms as we were upstairs in the Hotel section. The standar...

“Great Hospitality and Food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 October 2011

Third time of staying at the hotel. Food is excellent (good choice of meat and seafood dishes) served in the lounge bar. The staff are all really friendly and helpful. Rooms are comfortable and warm. Bathrooms have great showers. Public bar is great to sit in with a pint after a day on the hills. Will be back.

“Outstanding Hospitality”

On planning our trip to Mull for the first time and having undertaken a lot of research of other hotels across the island, we intuitively staked all our hopes on the Bellachroy being to our liking. Like the A Team, we just love it when a plan comes together!!!

This is a fantastic place led by the warmth and attention of the owners. There's great food (look out for the platters!!!), great banter with the locals, a hard weekly quiz (we came last but won a can of beans!!!), great service and a happy and vibrant atmosphere that runs throughout the Bellachroy . . including the singing chef . . not a bad title and concept for a new chef programme, eh BBC . . ?!!?

Can not recommend the Bellachroy enough . .we will certainly be returning next year!
