“Made us feel like home”

While already been living 2 years in Scotland, my brother and his wife visited me and asked for a proper highland experience. I booked Ardness House 2 days before departure and I must admit it was a great hit.

House is located just off the picturesque and peaceful Bunessan bay, really close to the northmost part of the Mull. Our host from the very first second made us feel like she was our closest relative. My company was surprised by her friendliness and sense of humour.

Rooms were perfectly set, clean and cosy. Double comfy beds offered as a great sleep.
The view was respectively breathtaking and representative of the west coast's landscape.

Since the whole area was not that developed and the only going out option was the pub at the north edge of the isle we were asked if we wanted to have a dinner prepared for us there. We accepted and that particular dinner came to be added to the already wonderful experience. Home made salmon , strawberries trifle an tea was all we needed to close our day in the atmospheric surroundings of the scottish isle.

All in all, i would definitely recommend Ardness house to anybody who picks up Mull as his destination. The fact that it's not close to a main town (Tobermory) is a plus if you are asking me cause the only way to appreciate the serene and mysterious scottish nature is to find yourself alone close to hidden ancient stone docks and virgin woodlands. Ardness is withing walking distance from all these

“We'll definitely be returning”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 January 2012

Lovely surroundings, welcoming staff, cosy feel. We enjoyed a home cooked meal (steak which was from their farm, as were a lot of the trimmings) by the fire which was tasty and excelent value for money.

Gillian took good care of us and made sure we had everything we need. Breakfast was also amazing.

View from the living room is breath-taking.

We will be returning this summer however we will be renting one of their self catering units as we will be travelling with family.

“Late Break”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 October 2011

A great B&B for the end of season, very warm and comfortable room with a comfortable bed, a log fire in a cosy lounge for visitors. The other guests were pleasant, frequent visitors. We enjoyed a locally sourced evening meal and excellent breakfasts. The views were stunning, although because of the weather we didn't enjoy them for long. We have been coming to Mull to enjoy the wildlife and scenery for several years and usually self cater but having experienced Gillian's cooking will use the B&B in the future.

“Stay at Ardness and enjoy dinner”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 October 2011

A warm and friendly welcome awaits you at Ardness House and -wow- can Gillian cook. We stayed for 2 nights and enjoyed 3-course meals (reasonably priced) prepared by Gillian with some home grown veggies. Breakfast menu had the full range of options. The other guests were friendly, some of them were repeat visitors. The woodfire in the lounge was a treat after a day out in the rain on Iona and Staffa/Fingal's Cave. Gillian is a 'local' and very knowledgeable about places to go and things to do. Our bedroom overlooked the back and was clean and comfortable, the bathroom had a lovely warm towel rail (good for drying wet clothes) but might be a tight fit for a large person. We would highly recommend Ardness House and are definitely hoping to return one day

“if you get the chance to go to Mull stay here”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 September 2011

Having stayed at Ardness House 3 years ago had no hesitation in going back to an extremely comfortable, spotless and friendly home. Food excellent and views idyllic. Hoping to visit again in the not too distant future. Ideally situated for exploring Mull and easy access to the short ferry trip across to Iona.
