“A real 5 star gem!”

Travelling to Stornoway on working visits over the last 4 years, it was always a chore trying to find a b&b that ticked all my boxes. The wonderful Carnan Beag is a new addition to my biz card book of great B&B's to stay in Scotland. Pat, Henry and the dogs made my visit memorable, Pat especially!, is a wonderful host, fully geared up for helping tourists get the best out of visiting the Island. Despite me not being a tourist, but there for working at the radio masts. I couldn't fully sample the hospitality and the fantastic food and fudge sweets which I feel bad about and regret not trying! :(, I try to eat less on these trips due to their being a lack of toilets at radio mast sites!! :D. The rooms are a good size, there's ensuite for every room, both very clean, tv and wi-fi, bed is super comfy, location is quiet. I will be returning here next time if I can.

Room Tip: Shower is already set to optimum setting, it does not need adjusting.

Stayed at Carnan Beag during the Mod. The rooms were very cosy and comfy and hosts had thought of every little detail even down to a little hand torch at bedside.breakfast was a feast, lovely fresh fruit and yogurt/smoothies/fresh juices , perfectly cooked breakfast ...everything was good quality..Heard some stories of over pricing in Stornoway during the Mod , shame on the Islanders. I have stayed in many hotels etc but would not pass this place if in Stornoway again. Thank you so much Pat and Henry.

Room Tip: All rooms same good quality

“So glad to have the privilege to stay here.”

Myself and three sisters stayed here the 18th to 21st August. We arrived in Stornoway to nice weather. As I had been in touch with Pat a few times via e-mails (trying to sort out our Ancestry) we did not feel like strangers on arrival. Both Pat & Henry were very accommodating & helpfull, even helped us unload the car, must mention the two lovely little dogs. The three bedrooms all ensuite were very homely and comfortable. I slept very well, the peace and quiet was lovely. I also have to mention the fudge as that's what attracted me to this B&B in the first place. It was scrumptious and we all ate loads of it.(just about as lovely as our own mothers). I have never seen just a lot of food on breakfast table, the home made bramble jam soon disappeared, the full Scottish breakfast was very tasty indeed and plenty of it. I'm sure we all left Carnan Bead a bit heavier than when we arrived. They are very kind people and everyday we left with fruit, biscuits & fudge. We also had the use of the upstairs lounge, which we took advantage of one night. Views over bay is lovely. Our Grandma was born in Gravis (MacLean) but unfortunately we never met her as she died when my own Mum was 9 years old. We actually found the house she was born in, which we were all very happy about. We met a lot of lovely people along the way. I would definately recommend this place and would stay again if I am lucky enough to get back to Stornoway. Thank you Pat & Henry you do a great job.

“Excellent B&B”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 July 2011

We arrived after cycling from Tarbert on Harris. Pat, Henry and their two dogs gave us a wonderful welcome. The room was lovely and the beds very comfortable. It may be a personal preference but I didn't t like the sliding door between bedroom and en-suite.

Great hosts and Pat was very helpful with information about the island and even the boats sailing into the harbour. This is supported by a large collection of books which is available to browse.

We were able to store our bikes in the garage and on the last day, when we had to be away before 7 for the ferry, Pat had opened the garage and rolled our bikes out for us by 6:45.

The breakfasts were amazing. We could choose from any or all of an array of different fruits, a large assortment of cereals and a full cooked Scottish breakfast.

The fudge provided in the bedroom was fantastic and Pat insisted we take some on our 60 mile cycle ride to Inverness to keep us going.

The location is great. A lovely view over the loch, which can be enjoyed over breakfast, and a nice 1 mile walk along the shore into the centre of Stornoway.

Highly recommended.
