“Overpriced and overrated”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 September 2011

We stayed for one nigth prior to returning to the mainland. The house is impeccable and beautifully decorated but .... Our room was rather small, expecially when you have two large suitcases and other bags. I have stayed in many B&Bs over the years but question the 5 star rating which also reflects the price you pay. Breakfast was really good; a minor drawback for some might be the location as you are out of Stronoway and you cannot walk into town.

“Incredible hospitality!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 August 2011

We stayed at Braighe House for just 1 night but wish it could have been more, especially after such a gorgeous breakfast in the morning! Alison and John were incredibly hospitable and had no problem accommodating some special dietary requirements we had. With a fantastic knowledge of not just Stornoway but much of the Outer Hebrides, Alison was able to give us some great tips on places to visit and stop in along the way as we carried on with our travels.
Couldn't recommend Braighe House highly enough! Thank you to Alison and John for a wonderful stay.

“Lovely big house on outskirts of Stornoway”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 July 2011

Alison and John took care of us when we stayed here for one night during our Honeymoon last year. When we arrived we were told (by the mother of one of them I think) that there was a problem, but it turned out to be minor - we couldn't check in straight away as John had to drive someone to the nearby airport. No problem. We had a nice room upstairs with a brilliant en-suite and a decent TV. Nice toiletries and a good information pack about local things. We ate at the Stornoway Balti House, and even though it was quiet and there were several staff looking for things to do, I had a great curry which had cheese in it. Two of my favourite things. The guy from the Tourist Information place came in for takeaway, so they must be doing something right. Anyway, breakfast at Braighe House was excellent, and John was very chatty and friendly. I think I had some Port in guest lounge which was a nice touch, or I might have a rubbish memory. Whilst slightly pricey in comparison to other places we stayed at, this place did have a little edge of luxury and I would definitely go back. When you are driving here past Stornoway, be careful to slow down a bit to make sure you don't miss the entrance by going a little too fast!

“What A Breakfast!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 July 2011

We stayed two nights at Braighe House whilst I was walking the 230 mile Timeless Way in the Outer Hebrides. The only negative things about it is that it's quite a way out of Stornoway for eating in the evening and it's expensive. That being said, you get what you pay for. And at Braighe House you get it all. We had a wonderful room with stunning views out to sea, fantastic service and one of the best cooked breakfast I had out of the 16 on this holiday. Alisaon and John are an attentive but not overbearing couple and made us two excellent recommendations for our evening meal. One, the Digby Chick, was out of this world. Mybe I'm using too many superlatives for Braighe House but it deserves them. We were amused that, next door, is the Norwegian Consulate and wondered why Norway should have direct diplomatic links with the Outer Hebrides! Maybe it's an historical thing.

“Best accommodation on our multi island holiday”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 June 2011

Braighe House is simply the best B&B we have ever visited. We have just returned from a multi island holiday in the inner and outer Hebrides staying at around seven different hotels. Braighe House is large property a couple of miles beyond Stornoway Airport and overlooking the sea with distant views to Skye. The elegant house if furnished to the highest standards with great attention to making visitors both comfortable and welcomed. Our room was spacious with a good bathroom and everything needed to make our short stay impressive. Alison and John readily made reservations for restaurants and organised taxis for us. Alison's breakfasts should be viewed by other hotels and B&B owners as they are impressive and original - home made yogurt, granola and bananas was delicious. If youneed to visit Stornoway, this is the place to stay.
