I stayed here for several nights while exploring west and north Lewis and found it a welcoming, warm and comfortable base in every respect. My single room was small and slightly dated, but very comfortable. The wifi worked well. The owner and staff are extraordinarily warm and informative. I am a bit surprised by some of the commentary about the food, since much to my initial surprise, it was uniformly excellent and not very expensive for the quality and portions. My first night I had a pork loin which was outstanding. Breakfasts were also excellent. Possibly they have recently revamped the kitchen? This is not a luxury boutque inn, and that is reflected in the very competitive rates. It is a simple but supremely comfortable hotel in a very remote part of Scotland that actually surprised me positively. I did just write "remote" but it is also midway between the Carloway Broch and the Callanish Standing Stones, two of Britain's premier prehistoric sites.
