“Great B&B!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 October 2011

We stayed for one night at the Trout Fly and had a very pleasant stay. Very nice rooms with own bathroom. The the breakfast was delicious. We arrived in the morning a bit late for our Lagavulin tour and Mary took us there in her car - great service!

“Warm, friendly B&B in Port Ellen”

Spent three nights at the Trout Fly and enjoyed them very much. The B&B is ideally situated to explore the southern Islay distilleries, the owners are welcoming and gracious, the rooms are immaculately clean and comfortable, and the breakfasts are delicious.

“Very good”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 June 2011

Very friendly (we arrived after 10 following late ferry and it was no problem); well equipped room with ensuite and tea and coffee making facilities; great breakfast; excellent location just a short distance from the three distilleries this end of the island.

“We love The Trout Fly!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 May 2011

Mary and Donald went out of their way to make our stay perfect. The food was fabulous and the bedroom, living room, and bathroom were comfortable and clean. Great location for visiting the three distilleries near Port Ellen and for dinner at the White Hart. We hope to return soon!

“The best B&B I've ever stayed in”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 May 2011

To start off, the welcome that the owners Donny & Mary give is warm and makes you feel at home straight away. With maps and advice on what to see all at hand, we were away exploring the island straight away. We were only there for 2 nights and we saw the best of Islay thanks to their advice. The breakfasts Mary cooks for you in the morning are exactly what you need before exploring and drinking whiskey.

We stayed in the double room and despite having a seperate bathroom, because the place feels so homely, there was no problem. Everything was spotless and looked very new.

The location is literally around the corner from Port Ellen, but as is currenlty closed, it was a fair drive to the other port. However, I've not deducted any points, as the location was great to see lots of the island.

Like best - Donny & Mary, cleanliness, the comfy bed
Like least - that we only had 2 nights in Islay :(

Room Tip: There are only 3 rooms so be sure to book quick!
