Expensive, fat smell pervaded the restaurant, eastern european staff were friendly and tried, bar staff had negligible knowlege of whisky - on Islay. Rooms clean but dated.

I only knew the restaurant at this hôtel where I had been several times , first time in 2000.

With a new chef and a renovation of bedrooms, it is now one of the best hôtels on Islay.

The seafood is excellent and reasonnably priced, and steaks can be grilled the way we like it in France, this being had to find in UK.

This is an lovely hotel with a homely atmosphere along with the excellent food in the restaurant.
The view overlooking the straight of Jura was breathtaking

Staff all very friendly, bar is excellent, well run for a small hotel. Food has been superb, especially the seafood so very fresh, they have holding pots in the harbour! Yes, the hotel is dated but the rooms are comfortable and it is part of its charm. We spoke to most of the staff,who were helpful, even the chefs are prepared to discuss and help with the meal choices. Breakfast was plentiful and quickly served even when the hotel was full.
