We didn't actually stay here as they didn't have room for us but we dined in the evening where we had an excellent meal, wines and service all round. We had family and friends visiting us so we were delighted to have taken them somewhere and find them pleasantly surprised by the quality and choice of food.

Nice houses but could have done with spiders and cobwebs cleaned up. Really nice conservatories on houses, but glazing units being half full of mouldy water took away from what was a feature you would not normally expect. Generally unkept outside with grass filled roan pipes and weedy and overgrown grass and road areas.
Although this review may come across negative, a few improvements and some attention to details would make an enormous difference to this place and would recommend.
The location for seeing the main local attractions in Unst is very good.

Accommodation is not the Shetlands strength. Saxa voord self catering houses are a complete exception to this. They are very comfortable, well set up spacious and modern. Unlikee most Shetalnd accommodation it is up to date and not stuck around 1980. Staff are good, we went on the off chance having booked into another local place that was dreadful. They actually wanted us to stay, made us a coffee despite the bar being closed. Their descriptions of their property matched what you got. Fantastic, again an exception on our holiday. Ate in Restaurant one evening, very good food made there that was good. Chicken tasted of chicken, lamb tasted of lamb and not some awful pretentious foul tasting sauce. Cooks are good. All in all a great stay, wish we had gone earlier and stayed longer. Staff all great, they seem to know that this was my holiday of the year so was important to me. Only improvement i would make is to put complimentary wifi in the houses. You can get it in the bar area but noot in the house. mobile reception is poor for O2 there so wifi would have helped.

The high quality self catering houses are well furnished wiith fitted kitchens which amply cope with any feast you may choose to cook. Bedrooms are cosy and have bedding suficiennt to meet the vagaries of Shetland weather All houses benefit from a conservatory a pleasant feature when the sun shines.
The resort boasts an excellent restaurant serving well cooked and well presented food.
A friendly welcome fromthe staff which conntinnued throughout the week ensured we enjoyed our stay at Saxavord
