Although the rooms are furnished rather basically - although the throws and wooden duck are a nice touch, plus good selection of tea and coffee - they were very clean and plenty of towels laid out, even though there were only three of us. Service was exceptional both front of house and in the restaurant - our seven year old was made to feel really welcome and we liked the Highland Coos for colouring-in on the back of the children's menu (and the treat she got for doing it!). Fabulous food, both for dinner and breakfast. Tip - don't stuff yourselves to the point of explosion as we did the night before, as you'll never have room for the delicious-looking cooked breakfast the next morning.
They do loads of outdoor activities (£) which looked great if that is your sort of thing - but there are gentle walks around if you just want to take it easy.
Loved the bird-feeders outside the restaurant window - we saw six different types of birds during dinner.
Hated the clouds of midges - make sure you take copious amounts of insect repellent.
