“Great Food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

I have stayed at the Morangie House a couple of times recently and would definitely return. The rooms are very nice albeit a little old fashioned but in my opinion adds to the character of the hotel.

Breakfast is fairly standard but the evening meals are excellent, I would highly recommend trying the soup of the day no matter what is on offer. The staff are very friendly and the bar with the open fire is a very pleasant place to sit in the evening.

“Great food, great service, but needs to invest some money in it's rooms.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2012

Stayed for a couple nights, both times the food was first class, staff friendly and the quality of service excellent. If only they would invest a few pounds in their rooms. The shower in the room was broken and the head wouldn't stay upright and then the water flow was so poor it was just a trickle. On top of that the bathroom suite was terribly dated and the hot water scalding hot but with no warning signs. Bedroom a good size and well presented. Would be great if only the bathrooms got better amenities and a facelift. However, as I said, service and food excellent.

“Special needs”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 October 2011

This is highland jewel, the staff were outstanding both friendly and helpfull from the lady that made up our room to the dining room and bar staff

The room was large warm and functional we needed a handicapt room it had a walk in shower. The hotel operates free wifi. The bar is well stocked a great selection of whisky (the Glen Morangie distillary was just down the road)

The food was excelent a great selection of local produce

Overall a great place to stay

“Service and food faultless”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 October 2011

Stayed here for a couple of nights and were so glad that we had.

Working in the hospitality trade is demanding team work, but the first person whom you meet on arrival is the receptionist and it is their initial welcome that can make or break a stay.

No problems here as both ladies with whom we had dealings were a delight to speak to and that was the beginning of a really enjoyable couple of nights.

We dined in the bar and were welcomed by a very well mannered bar man who looked after us to the point where he took our drinks to our table and helped serve the food. The food was of a very high standard and beautifully presented, along with constant attention to our needs.Breakfasts were equally impressive

The room we had was spacious ,well appointed and had everything needed to add to the enjoyment.

Yes the grounds are a shadow of what they were some years ago,but given time I am sure things will improve on this score but it is what goes on inside the building that really matters and there are absolutely no problems there

“Service as poor as the food is good”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 September 2011 via mobile

8 of us had dinner there on Saturday and the service was extremely poor. The staff have not been trained properly at all and it was a bit like Fawlty Towers. The food was, however, very good but the inexcusable table service sOured the evening. The young staff were pleasant but had clearly not been trained in the fundamentals. Not fair on them either.

Interesting comment.
We pride ourselves on our service which is honest , attentive and friendly ,however we dont pretend its silver service.
Your group left a good tip and when asked how the evening went, they enthusiastically all agreed they had a good evening.
So you obviously you didnt agree with the rest of the group,
We are continually training staff as is the nature of the business, the other 70 diners that evening all appeared to have a good evening.
We take all comments on board and Im glad you thought the ambiance and food were good .
We take nothing for granted and continue to try and improve.
