“Brilliant on the pocket”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 October 2011

We have been coming to Torridon and Sheildaig for around 20 years, fishing the Lochs; the fishing club have stayed in the Rivendell on a number of occasions now. There is always a special feeling when you stayed there, you were more than just a guest. Tommy and Marilyn are excellent hosts, always happy to chat and listen to the variety of excuses we had for not catching very much. The food at the B & B is also top notch, a great range of breakfast’s options and no skimping on portions. Dinner was also very good with the option of cooking what you caught. The pricing is excellent on the pocket; you get a quality service, good rooms and a great food - what more could you want?! An added bonus is the Roosters awakening you early in the morning so no need to bring an alarm clock, a small thing, but a nice touch.

“Wonderful Hospitality!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 September 2011

My wife and I recently stayed at Rivendell on a trip around Scotland from the USA. Tommy and Marilyn (both originally from Lancashire) could not have been more friendly and gave us the warmest welcome and an enormous bedroom and sitting room upstairs.

Rivendell has tons of character (chickens outside the front door etc!) and Tommy's breakfasts were superb and the setting is perfect - overlooking Little Loch Broom where we had a nice hike and saw otters outside the B & B. Tommy is a great raconteer, cook, fisherman, guitar player and loves a dabble on the horses! He's also featured on a BBC food program about catching and cooking lobsters and Marilyn was as kind as could be. We would definitely go back there on another trip. There was good pub food in the village and also a 5 star restaurant and Shieldaig is not far from Torridon and the beautiful Inverewe Gardens.and a good jumping off spot to explore the Applecross Peninsular.

“Very basic”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 August 2011

Easy on the pocket, good breakfast and friendly staff, but room was stuffy and certainly would need some renovation.

“I can't believe no-one else has writtren a review”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 July 2011

It's time Marilyn and Tommy got the accolade that they deserve.
OK the house is a bit wonky but the hospitality is fantastic!

I run a B&B in Kelso (Duncan House) and choose to go to Rivandell for my holidays. The locals and the hosts embrace you and the welcome from the whole community makes the experience totally worthwhile.

Love to Marilyn & Tommy

“Great hospitality and fabulous seafood”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 August 2010

This was our second trip to Rivendell this year and it exceeded our expectations second time around.

As a B&B proprietor in the lowlands I have my own standards to compare with, maybe the rooms leave a little to be desired in part but so what. The food is great and the hospitality fantastic. If you enjoy seafood ask for the local crab, lobster or langoutsine - fresh as can be!

Visitors to this part of Wester Ross need to understand that the nearest builders merchant or Tesco involves a 150 mile round trip so if they break something a replacement may not be immediately available.

We will certainly return.
