nd daughter-inlaw's wedding took place at Coul House as planned in December last. What a wonderful time was had by all over a period of five days- from the moment the first guests arrived until the last ones left they were all made to feel instantly "at home" with crackling log fires blazing aand everyone experiencing the owners and staffs wonderful welcoming hospitality and attention to the smallest detail together with the superb food and ambience. The Wedding day itself could not have gone better - it was a truly magical day with everyone at the Hotel working so hard to make it so. Many of the guests (including us) have said they will go back for a relaxing break in the future as they enjoyed the venue so much. We can't thank everyone enough for making our son and daughter-in-law's Wedding celebrations a truly memorable occasion we will remember forever and can't wait to go back there again!

My partner and i had a wonderful two night stay at this jem of a hotel.
The owner gave us routes and hand drawn map for amazing walks and generally
great advice on where to visit and eat as new to the area.
The great food, warming log fires, and friendly staff made this visit one to remember.

Our daughter was married at Coul House in December. The setting was wonderful and we were so well looked after by Stuart (owner) and Chris (manager) as well as all the staff. Nothing was too much trouble for them and they even put on their traditional kilts for the wedding day. When Chris changed into trousers to lay down the dance floor, someone remarked that they had wanted a photo of him, so he put it all on again for them!!

The hotel was beautifully decorated with a welcoming fire in the reception hall and two great Christmas trees which fascinated our young granddaughter. All the rooms we used were very well maintained and had all we could need for our stay.

The bar area was very cosy and staff always attentive. The lounge is very comfortable and we had several gatherings there during our stay with many cups of tea/ coffee produced at a moment's notice. (also wonderful shortbread and raisin biscuits made by the chef)

Food was excellent and plentiful -- several of us now need larger sizes as we all enjoyed it so much. I never thought I would enjoy haggis for breakfast, but it was great -- along with all the other choices, including real Scottish porridge.

The grounds are a credit to Stuart and his staff, a large lawn area as well as a secret garden to explore. There are also some great walks around the area.

If I were to go to Scotland again I would definitely visit Coul House and I highly recommend it to others as a wonderful place to stay.

Tucked away in a quiet location away from the main road, Coul House is a cut above the average highland hotel. No cracked plaster or draughty windows here, the hotel having been very well maintained and upgraded over the years.

Food in the restaurant is outstanding, with a good selection of meat and fish dishes, locally sourced where possible. The bar is well stocked with malts (a must in this part of the world), and the beer is brewed in a local independent brewery.

The grounds are extensive and contain a variety of old specimen trees, incuding some magnificent Douglas Fir's and Redwoods. On my visit in September, the lawns were sodden, and impossible to walk on.

Mobile phone access requires a walk in the grounds as reception is patchy, but the hotel does offer free wireless broadband.
