“Bliss!”

What a fantastic, professionally run bed and breakfast/home from home this is! I arrived on a bleak November evening having come across the mountain through the mist to Culdie, near Applecross and to be welcomed by Janet with coffee and home made cakes-a truly warm and friendly start to my two night stay. The room was a wonderful haven from the cold with an excellent, comfy bed with plenty of cushions and pillows. Lovely touches include touch sensitive bedside lamps, a fridge with fresh milk, water and coffee, tea and biscuits/cake, plenty of storage space and all immaculately clean and tidy.
There is a digital tv, tasteful artwork on the walls, underfloor heating in the en-suite which also includes a mist free mirror and excellent power shower. I also noted that all the cleaning materials and air fresheners etc are eco-friendly. There is a range of interesting books provided along with copious amounts of maps and local guide books. Free wi-fi is also available. To top this you are provided with bathrobes and slippers-divine indulgence.
Particularly impressive was Janet taking the care to ensure I was ok with her wonderful family pets (dog and cat) before introducing them to me.
Breakfast is superb. It is served in the kitchen with excellent views to the surrounding countryside. There is an excellent choice of scrumptious, locally resourced food. Take the opportunity to have the Ragged Acre Muesli (made by Janet herself and recipe available).
On the first morning I had smoked haddock and poached eggs. On the second morning I 'went the whole hog'. I had a long journey home and used breakfast to see me through the day. What a spread- bacon, eggs, lovely sausages, mushrooms, tomatoes, black pudding and fruit pudding-all done to perfection along with excellent coffee and toast. Janet is the perfect host- warm, welcoming, interested but always leaving time for yourself to enjoy the Ragged Acre facilities. I especially appreciated the open house nature of the house and look forward to returning.

This is a beautiful little cottage in the most idyllic location. The hospitality shown by Janet is outstanding; we received a warm welcome with coffee and cake. The bedroom is spacious with a lovely en-suite which included a great shower and heated flooring. Digital TV and WIFI are available along with a mini fridge and a kettle in the room. The bed is very comfortable with ample pillows and cushions. The breakfast was delicious and served in a room with a beautiful view, one which I hope to see again!

“Best B and B in Scotland”

The most idillic cottage, in an area of outstanding beauty. It was the first night of our holiday and the climb over the mountains to Applecross could not have resulted in a happier and softer landing. We adore everything about Applecross and this, in no small part, was to do with the wonderful welcome by Janet with her tea and cakes. One could not find a better equiped, more thoughtfully resourced or cleaner B and B in the whole of Scotland. We have just received in the post, my favourite shirt and cufflinks, that Janet so kindly returned to us. A quality experience.

My wife and i stayed late October and apart from the weather could not of asked for more.
On arrival, coffee and cakes - a great touch. Slippers and a dressing gown, a first for us in a B&B !
Wonderful bedroom, best shower I have ever had anywhere - I want one !
Great choice for breakfast and the highest quality.
All in all one of if not the best B&B we have visited, will return in the near future.

“Great location and value”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 September 2011

The room is great with a lovely bathroom (great shower!) and breakfast was brilliant. Janet is extremely welcoming with tea and home baking on arrival- marvellous! this is in a great location, close to a few lovely walks and a short drive to the Applecross Inn. It is a great B&B with lots of lovely thoughtful touches, which will make your stay.
