“Best B and B in Scotland”

The most idillic cottage, in an area of outstanding beauty. It was the first night of our holiday and the climb over the mountains to Applecross could not have resulted in a happier and softer landing. We adore everything about Applecross and this, in no small part, was to do with the wonderful welcome by Janet with her tea and cakes. One could not find a better equiped, more thoughtfully resourced or cleaner B and B in the whole of Scotland. We have just received in the post, my favourite shirt and cufflinks, that Janet so kindly returned to us. A quality experience.

My wife and i stayed late October and apart from the weather could not of asked for more.
On arrival, coffee and cakes - a great touch. Slippers and a dressing gown, a first for us in a B&B !
Wonderful bedroom, best shower I have ever had anywhere - I want one !
Great choice for breakfast and the highest quality.
All in all one of if not the best B&B we have visited, will return in the near future.

“Great location and value”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 September 2011

The room is great with a lovely bathroom (great shower!) and breakfast was brilliant. Janet is extremely welcoming with tea and home baking on arrival- marvellous! this is in a great location, close to a few lovely walks and a short drive to the Applecross Inn. It is a great B&B with lots of lovely thoughtful touches, which will make your stay.

“Great Hospitality & Fabulous Breakfast”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 August 2011

With my very poor sense of geography I had arranged to meet a friend on Skye for a quick dinner, before traveling on to Ragged Acre at about 10pm. It was actually 70 miles, and over some seriously winding and precarious mountain roads.
As it got later and later, lost on a scrubby patch of what appeared to be a farm with a rocky dirt track we began to imagine all sorts of things. We were going to have to sleep in the car or that at way past midnight and we ever found Ragged Acre they would refuse us admission or set the dogs on us!
We needn't have worried. Eventually our trusty sat-nav found the way to Applecross, where at the Inn a cheery local said 'Ah, you'll be looking for Janet? She's just up the track.' And so she was. She didn't set the dogs on us, but made us very welcome even though we'd disturbed her slumber and promptly took our order for breakfast.
Come the morning, breakfast was sumptuous. I've got Janet's recipe for for the wonderful muesli she makes, and the salmon and scrambled eggs were fabulous.
Unfortunately we couldn't stay for more than one night, but next year hope to return and explore this beautiful part of Scotland at more leisure.

Room Tip: Beautiful room, great en-suite.

“Serene location, warmest welcome”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 August 2011

Myself and a visiting friend from Australia stayed at Ragged Acre... a lovely quiet location, just a short drive from the pub and restaurants of Applecross. Janet welcomed us with hot drinks and homemade cake and biscuits, and then we went for a short walk recommended by our host to watch a little family of seals about ten mins walk away. The room was just lovely and Janet was a warm and perfect host. We had dinner at the Walled Garden which was great...you practically saw the lettuce being picked outside! The high road (Bealach Na Ba to Applecross is a highpoint and even though the next day we had rain and grey skies, the coast road to Torridon was still spectacular. Also a stop at the Croft Wool and Weavers shop and studio is highly recommended!
