Knowing the Glenmoriston had recently changed hands we decided to try it out for Dinner last Sunday evening. What a good decision!
Lovely fresh Bread roll, Melt in the mouth, bursting with flavour absolutely lovely Aberdeen Angus Roast Beef with proper Yorkshire Pudding, Roast Potatoes, Mash and four veg., was the 'Sunday Dinner' plus a Gravy Boat with extra gravy (how unusual is that?) and very good Horseradish. Others had Lamb shanks which looked absolutely lovely too and, I was told, were full of flavour, tender and quite devine, to quote.
You had the choice of Home made Scotch Broth soup for a starter or Fruit Crumble and Custanrd to complete this feast. None of us could manage three courses and we opted for the Fruit Crumble, Home made and again, quite delicious. All prices very reasonable, under £15, with Coffee and Fudge Tablet on the side.
The Hotel is undergoing a great deal of re-furbishment and as we did not stay the night cannot comment on the Bedrooms, as yet? The new owner Ailsa and her son Lachie have very high standards and I am sure the Bedrooms will be as clean, cosy, comfortable and sparkling as is the rest of this lovely old Hotel.
The Glenmoriston Arms deserves all the TLC it is now getting, it is a charming and beautiful old building which has suffered to a large extent due to having changed hands three times in the past few years. I do feel it is now in safe hands!
Room Tip: Did not sleep there this time, but all public rooms and toilets absolutely spotless and sparkling.
