Stayed here 5 years in a row, it was brilliant,then suddenly it was taken over by a new couple,had I known this I would not have gone.I had flown up children and partners for a surprise birthday treat for my wife.Rooms were the same,great rooms,but the service and food had changed dramatically,there was one set time to eat,and a set menu,no choice at all,you will eat now,and eat this!
The second night we ate somewhere else,Sunday we went in to the bar,and asked for the advertised "bar meals / snacks" no choice again here,cheese and tomato sandwiches,nothing else offered,a bit awkward when two of your party of 6 do not eat cheese.
On the plus side it is a nice hotel with great views,and location,thankfully that cannot be toyed with.Also Inverness is quite close so you can get a choice of food and restaurant there.

We had a great two night stay here, whilst our son camped with 400 other scouts at Dochgarroch. Martin from the hotel contacted us ahead to see when were arriving and whether we planned to eat, giving us info on the menu that evening. We opted to do so and at our request dinner was brought forward by an hour as we were early, and surprisingly the only guests that evening. Five course menu was fantastic, although as several others have mentioned, a touch on the pricey side and with no options. This wasn't a problem on this occasion given the food quality. However it discouraged us eating there the following evening, when we had a light supper in the also excellent Waterfall Cafe a short stroll up the path behind the hotel (remember to bring a torch to walk back, as no street lights and pitch black). After dinner a fire was lit for us in the beautifully decorated drawing room and we had coffee whilst drowsing on the comfortable sofas. Our room was the four poster with picture book views, and extremely comfortable bed and very well furnished. Service and breakfast were great and other than the lack of choice around dinner, we couldn't fault it. So do go.

Just stayed the night at Craigdarroch. The location is superb with a very nice view overlooking the loch. The rooms were clean and nice. We had dinner in the hotel. The roast venison was excellent as well as the service outstanding. I was a bit surprised that we were the only people dining in the restaurant that night. After dinner we had a nice drink by the warm fire in the study. Breakfast the next morning was simple but good. I highly recommend the hike to see the waterfall behind the hotel.

We stayed there in September 2011 and found this to be a wonderful little retreat. Martin and Elinor are working hard to make your stay a pleasant experience. They are constantly improving the facility and they work hard to make you feel welcome. We thoroughly enjoyed the food. Some staff were not as knowledgeable as we might hope but we found it altogether charming. The location with its wonderful view and quite surroundings was amazing. It is just a short walk to a beautiful waterfall and small river. The trail can be taken for a nice walk through the woods that wanders about and returns you to the hotel.
