“Don't Bother”

We stayed at the hotel over the weekend of 11th & 12th February. The only saving grace for the hotel was te cleanliness of the bedroom. The staff were at best surly and very bad mannered. The bar was only open when it suited the staff and when we resorted to taking our own into the lounge the staff were openly hostile. The hotel is being refurbished and other than the bedrooms the other public areas are very run down. We will definately not be returning

Room Tip: If you do decide to risk it, ask for a room at the front of the hotel which have views over Loch Nes...

Oh dear. Normally one welcomes critical feedback as an opportunity to learn and improve the service for guests. However, I view your post as petty and vindictive and, for the first occasion ever, I reject your feedback. Please allow me to explain why...

I was in the hotel during your stay. I am tempted to launch into a passionate defence of the staff, but I must remain professional. Therefore, for the benefit of others reading your review, I will limit myself to listing the facts below and allow other browsers to make up their own mind if your review is fair or not.

1. You smoked cigarettes in your room, smelling out the hotel and discomforting other guests. This is illegal and the whole hotel is clearly signposted as a non-smoking building. When the staff simply, and politely, tried to enforce the law, you became aggressive.
2. Your brought your own alcohol onto licensed premises and drank it in a public area.
3. You brought take-away food and spread it around in the public lounge, which is a non-food venue.
4. The bar was open at 7pm as advertised. I know this for sure because I was in it.
5. The hotel is not being refurbished. Fire doors are being upgraded to the latest safety standards.

I am extremely proud of the professionalism and friendly nature of the staff team and feel they did a wonderful job in the extremely difficult situation created for our other guests by your behaviour.

“Excellent Service with a smile”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

We spent our wedding anniversary here for 2 nights and I can honestly say, we were VERY impressed! Alina (the manager) went out of her way to make us very welcome and organised some lovely flowers for my wife. Our room (10) overlooked Loch Ness making our morning wake up delightful, The room was traditional for a Scottish country house hotel, we had freeview TV (not that we needed it), plenty of tea and coffee and a bathroom with a jacuzzi bath.

Even with quite a few guests in, we found the hotel very quiet and peaceful, absolutely no noise from outside and none inside either, what a great place for a relaxing weekend! It's walking distance from Fort Augustus but make sure you go the "shortcut" (with a torch), ask Alina, she'll point you in the right direction. Walking down the main road at night would be a bit hazardous as there's no pavement.

We had a meal in the restaurant on our first night and the chef (a true Scot) Robert knows his stuff! A lovely hot meal, not rushed meant we didn't feel hungry afterwards. Breakfast in the morning was great too (even though we didn't go for haggis or black pudding by choice), the venison sausages were new to me and I wasn't disappointed! As for the boiled eggs on Day 2,, what can I say? The best I've ever had (does the Inch have a private stock of "special" hens)?

Thank you to all the staff at The Inch for making our anniversary break memorable, I will be recommending a stay with you to all my friends and family.

Room Tip: Loch facing rooms have great views over Loch Ness

“Lovely Weekend Break”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

We stayed at Inch last weekend (28.1.12) it was a lovey base for our trip around the highlands dinner was very good and the staff were friendly and helpfull. The traditonal Scottish breakfast were 1st class. We stayed in room 4, which was a little dated, but clean and very warm. We would certainly stay there again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a Loch view.

“Highland Delight”

A January trip to the Highlands may not seem the most sensible idea, but our welcome at the Inch Hotel was as warm as we could have wished, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this
characterful hotel. The location is spectacular, and our room was spacious and comfortable. The ambience is relaxing, and this is a hotel that understands hospitality.
Service was excellent (Aline looked after us beautifully), but the real treat was the cooking. Here is a chef who absolutely understands food, and allows quality ingredients to speak for themelves. Presentation was beautiful, and sauces were assured and delicious. Breakfast was a feast, and the venison sausages were memorable!. Well done and thank you Inch Hotel. This really was quality Highland's hopitality.

“Lovely Hogmanay at the Inch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 January 2012

I have to say that our time spent at the Inch was really memorable. We enjoyed every second of it. It was our first time in Scotland and we loved it.
The Inch is a very cozy place, which made us feel like home. The room was very spacious with a huge bed (the bridal suite) and it had everything we needed in order to relax and it had lovely view of the Lock.
Hogmanay was a total success due to Marian and his team, who I have to say, went out of their ways to make everyone enjoy themselves, but also due to all the others who attended this wonderful Hogmanay break at the Inch. Me and my husband were very happy about being there and meeting all these fabulous people.
The food was great, we eat so many different kinds of food that we have never tasted before and we loved it.
We are very happy we chose to spend our first Hogmanay in Scotland, at the Inch and we highly recommend it for any kind of occasions.

We will definitely be returning!
