“Good little hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 August 2011

My wife and I recently stayed at the Golspie Inn for two nights while I tackled the Highland Wildcat moutain bike track, unfortunately we got the last room which sadly had no shower but the bath was nice and big with plenty hot water, the room was spacious and clean but a bit old fashioned for me (personal taste perhaps) the staff were young but very polite and helpfull the bar is small and cosy but without doubt the food in the bar was the highlight of our stay and while not the biggest menu the selection was quite varied and really high quality the Scallop linguine was an absolutely fantastic dish.
All in all a good little hotel which to be fair could do with a bit of modernisation but really enjoyed our stay and will be back .

“Not bad”

Doing Land's End to John O'Groats, we were supposed to be stopping in Meikle Ferry, Tain, but me as support got to our accommodation to find we had a room but no water....so at 5 pm had to search.....Luckily 3rd pub/hotel/inn had what we needed a double room (well family room, a double and two single beds) with en-suite. the owner showed me the room, the bedroom was dated and en-suite were dated - under normal circumstances I wouldn't have chose to stop here because of the dated decor (80's) and furnishings etc and the cost of the B&B, but was was very grateful to have found a bed for my husband who was cycling....Struggling in with all the bags etc. I thought the owner was stuck in his chair behind the reception, but he did help which was appreciated. The other person cycling, cycled to here (her husband came to the hotel to take her back to their B&B). Had a drink with him whilst waiting for the two cyclists - I had my usual G&T said no ice (so got no lemon - had to ask for the lemon - the person behind the bar just picked up the lemon with his fingers and put it in my drink - to which I had to make a comment). The owner was very obliging putting the two bikes in storage for us (even though the one wasn't staying here). Looked at the menu on the board and thought it was just pub grub...wrong took a look at the menu - I really couldn't decide what to have - I fancied one of the mains as a starter - no problem - the food was super. Although the room faced on the main road - no problems at all and the bed was comfy although a bit small. Breakfast - The room was extremely hot and silly me I had porridge which was very very nice followed by haddock again nice. Toast - we were just given white bread toasted (no problem to me - diabetics shouldn't eat white bread), left the room feeling not too good because of the heat (I wasn't the only one who thought it was too hot), so didn't fill up with toast so after I'd laid down and cooled down still hungry.....Again though owner again very obliging to someone who hadn't stopped there by supplying them with a load of ice for their water bottles. When paying the bill I'm sure we were charged £10 less than originally quoted (unsure because when leaving the hotel I fell in the car park - then feeling unwell in the van opened the windows and the bill which I'd put on the dash board - went flying out of the window!!!) Would we go back there - If I'm honest, I'm not sure I like wifi and found it awkward to get (but hey ho one night missing - not too bad), I like my comforts as in big comfy bed, comfy sofa or chairs to sit on and read etc, temperature I like to be in control, en-suite like modern.

“Welcoming and friendly!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 July 2011

I recently had my second visit to the Golspie Inn this summer! I have to say the rooms are fine, yes they could do with some updates but couldn't everywhere? They are ensuite, clean and comfy!

I ate at the Bar and restaurant each night, the food was excellent quality, could do with some more chips though! The Bar Manager was friendly and sitting at the bar at night with the locals was good banter.

Overall If you are looking for a cheap but cheerful hotel with great food and friendly people then this is for you!!!

Ps see you soon Golspie Inn!!!

“Enjoyable two night stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 July 2011

A warm welcome from the staff who were helpful and friendly throughout the stay. Room 12 was quiet, spacious and clean although in want of some decoration. Comfortable bed. Food from the restaurant menu on the first night was excellent and although not cheap was fairly priced. Food from the bar menu on the second night was good and resonably priced. We would be happy to stay there again.
