A group of 6 golfers stayed 4 nights at this hotel. The hotel is in a lovely location, overlooking the sea and well located for our golf trip (Brora, Golspie, Dornoch). Rooms were good and the hotel comforable. The downsides were the lack of flexibility on breakfast timing which for us meant only cold breakfast when we were playing 2 rounds and unremarkable dinner quality - we only ate dinner the first night and ate out thereafter. A few changes on the catering side would really improve this hotel which has the potential to be better.

Great location and outlook. Dinner menu was either re-heated from frozen or deep fried. Breakfast was fine. Owner has a dog that seeks attention by barking, and occupying the bar seating. Not everyone's taste in entertainment.

It should be called Sea View because it's right on the shore - perfect for an evening stroll. It is beautifully quiet, the rooms have everything you will need. There is a flat screen TV and DVD player in the bedrooms and the lounge with a large selection of DVDs to chose from. The owners are welcoming; the bar has big comfy sofas - perfect for a cosy drink after a day out. The breakfasts are great - perfect poached eggs every time. Really good value.

Golspie is a great place for sightseeing round the area - John O'Groats; Dunnett Head; Castle of Mey (well worth a visit); the Duncansby Stacks; BettyHIll (go to the museum in the old church); the Badbea Clearance Village. Dornoch is only a few miles down the road.

Excellent small and friend family run hotel with a fabulous beach view (just across the street). When I visited, it seemed as if it had just been refurbished to a very high standard. Good food (but needs possibly to pay more attention to vegetarian requirements). Otherwise an absolutely excellent stay and good value for money.
