“Bad dining experience”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 December 2011

I have been a few times for a meal and desperately want this place to be good, as I am a local. However...menu looks promising but everything seems to be microwaved to within an inch of it's life. Mashed potato like wallpaper paste with lumps in it. The place is also grubby, dead flies in window in winter!?
Dornoch generally lacks somewhere to go for a good meal (Castle is lovely but expensive!) and it says it all that the best place to pop out for tea is the cafe at the service station at Evelix on the A9!! Better going to Carnegie Lodge in Tain or even better keep going to the Shandwick a couple of miles past Nigg roundabout.

We have read and taken on board, and appreciate the coments made by previous customers, all the necessary adjustments have been made to ensure that all our customers have an experience to write favourably about in the future.

The Eagle has recently gone under new management, and there is a substantial refurbishment that is going ahead on the 5th March 2012, the Eagle will relaunch shortly afterwards with a new outlook, new menus and all round great hospitality.

“£70 per night? Be better to go camping!”

This really is not a nice hotel. I stayed one night and had to endure karoke until 1ish am and then listen to the racket outside whilst the drunk punters dispersed. Food is is not enjoyable and staff are about as happy and friendly as a funeral director telling you your relative has suddenly come back from the dead.
Whilst watching the rugby we asked to have the tv sound put up and were told no its against the rules. We were the only 3 in there!
I'd like to say something positive but I can't.

Worked booked me in here, place does stink off stale beer it hits you as soon as you walk in.The room was terrible had to sit on the side off the toilet pan because of the wall my legs would not fit to sit straight, you can also hear when anybody is up the squeaky floor boards give that away plus you can hear everybody talking with the paper thin walls. My room had the fire door splitting the hall so when anybody opened it , it banged of the wall and shook everything in the room. Breakfast don't bother the one sausage was un edible and the rest was cold and totally over cooked if it wasn't for the work paying i wouldn't have.

“Tremendous!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 August 2011

Stayed here for one night while travelling North. As a solo female traveller I am usually a little weary of hotels with "local" bars in them, but my fears were unfounded as I was looked after like family!

My room was clean and I had plenty toiletries as well as a huge bath towel. It had a powerful shower and a big TV.

I spent most of my evening in the bar being looked after by the locals.

The breakfast was really tasty, and plenty of choice, and my main meal in the evening was just as good. Really tasty and a big portion.

Thanks to all the staff. Ill be sure to pop in next time im passing!

“do NOT recommend.”

Went here with friends for a meal on a Saturday evening, we were told it was a good place to eat so were expecting great things, sadly it didn't meet our expectations at all. It all started with our drinks order, we asked the waitress if we were to order drinks from her or did we have to get them at the bar she said we could do either, giggled, then just walked off not giving us the chance to order from her so we had to get our drinks our self. Then the food, it was awful, the worst meal I've eaten by far. The chicken goujons were processed and horrible, the garlic bread cold, the pepper sauce bland, cajun chicken was far too spicy to eat. At the end of the meal the waitress asked us if we enjoyed our meal obviously noticing that we had barley finished our meals, in which we responded that she didn't want us to answer the question as we were very disappointed in our meal. Then when we went to pay the manager rudely told us that we hadn't complained at the start of the meal so was going to do nothing to compensate for the awful meal. To top it all off as we left we could hear the two waitresses gossiping about us.

Over all awful food and not good service.
