Last week I stayed with my family at the Cairn Lodge Hotel.

A young and very beautiful man from Greece (Alexandros) welcome me my wife and my daughter and help me while I was checking - in. . He show us the room, the hotel's facilities and arranged dinner for 3 in the Capercaillie restaurant. The food was delicious and very tasty. The all hotel is magnificent and we have never experienced such incredible service before. We hearted that Mrs Stakis (from the famous family is the owner). The decor and the all atmosphere are luxury and relaxing. The only thing that we did not like was the weather and the local people. They were very rood and impolite.

On arrival you may think that you have chosen a good hotel, however as your stay continues you can't help but think you are staying at Fawlty Towers. All of staff are Polish and struggle to understand any request guest may have, this includes a simple breakfast order of poached eggs. Dinner was very average and even when asked whether everything was staisfactory our complaints were ignored.

Rooms were poor quality but this is nothing new as most hotels in mainland Uk are pretty poor and out dated and over priced.

Excellent hotel and good service. Unpretentious and unobstrusive.....
def. a home from home. The entire hotel felt like an extension of my home and space. Good service and food. Will definately go back for more of their TLC.

Having passed this hotel many times I wanted to try it, but it turned out to be a huge disappointment. It is the first time in many many years of travelling and hotel stays that I have put back a meal, which was really awful,cold and burnt black. The replacement was no better just burned meat, boiled potaoes and peas and the dessert was a joke! Wee bits of green cooking apple with the skin on and a few sultanas thrown on top and covered in powdered cinnamon, this lovely concoction described itself as a tart - which was missing. There were only a few diners on a Saturday night, the service was slow, dull and we left as soon as possible, very hungry.
The rooms were probably very nice when they were done up, but the wallpaper borders/swags'n'tails look is dated now, classic Country House looks never date. One room was tiny, the other cold and the en-suite was novel with no door handle on the inside of a stiff folding door that would'nt shut. There were no baths in either room. It felt like this place had been good at one time. The breakfast was poor too, my boiled egg was peeled! lying in a saucer with a fingernail print in it, I just ate the yolk!
The toast never came, no more tea was offered so we went to pay and waited ages and ages for someone to come, then we were charged more than was said in a phone call from the hotel, so I had to be refunded and I was also charged for the unacceptable meal, so all in all very disappointing and we won't be back and I can't really recommend it although like everything some people would probably love it.
