My wife and I are just back home having spent a night away at this hotel.
Upon arrival we were warmly welcomed and shown to our room. We were in room 1, which is very comfortable and has a nice view over Loch Tay. Although there were a few minor wear and tear marks in the room, it was impeccibly clean, welcoming and cosy. The bed was comfortable, the shower hot and the tea/coffee facilities came with a nice selection of items including shortbread! There was also a selection of soaps/gels/shampoo in the bathroom.
After booking a table in the restaurant upon arrival, we went down to the bar for a glass of wine feeling ravenous and looking forward to enjoying some food. As mentioned by other reviewers, the food was really superb value. Incredibly large portions and everything tasty with a varied selection. We recommend the chicken with haggis stuffing and black pudding - we would have loved to see the size of the chicken that was used to provide this meal, it must have been enormous! Having ordered 3 courses we struggled on and got to the sticky toffee pudding which my wife says was as good as her mother makes, some compliment I must say! The next morning, after a goods night sleep, we waddled down to breakfast for more of the excellent food. Again there was a varied selection, even smoked salmon and scrambled eggs for those in the mood!
In summary, the Ben Lawers hotel is manned by amazingly friendly, helpful and efficient staff. The food is some of the best we have eaten for the money, the rooms are comfortable and the location fantastic. All in all, this is one of the best value Hotels we have ever stayed in. Im not normally a person who writes reviews on trip advisor, as they would more often than not be negative, however, The Ben Lawers Hotel has restored my faith - there are still some cracking little hotels out there, and this is one of them!
Room Tip: Room 1 recommended for couples!
