We booked Fortingall Hall for one night just to get away. We managed to get it on a last minute deal (at 11am that morning) so the price was a quarter of the regular price. So my mark on price is based on that. Regular room at £200 is completely out of my budget, but keep an eye out for a deal. It was perfect. From the lovely white dressing gowns to the fantastic bed.
On our arrival we were greeted by a very smily and friendly GM who took us to our room. We had a 'standard' deluxe room which was rear facing. Complimentary whisky as well as probably the best coffee/tea tray I've ever come across! Ground coffee for the cafetiere and loose leaf tea for the pot. I was more than impressed!
We ate from the bar menu which featured your standard fish and burgers, but also braised shin of beef and a chicken liver & fois gras(sp?) parfait. Both myself and my partner were more than delighted with our food and drinks. The staff also accomodated for us by specially preparing a table for us in another room as the bar was full.
Unfortunately the only single downside was that the room was far too warm at night. We'd closed off all the radiators but didn't want to open the window given that it was blowing a gale and raining/snowing outside. Maybe compensating for the cold outside? Pity really given that the bed was SO comfortable! Nonetheless we left the next day feeling refreshed and relaxed.
I can't comment on the breakfast as my partner wasn't feeling up for breakfast at the time. But the menu looked fantastic.
On a final note, the staff were absolutely fantastic. The waitress with the glasses (Sorry, we didn't get your name?) genuinely gave us some of the best service we've received in such a long time. We havn't stopped going on about it. And the other lady that served us in the bar always had a smile and gave very good portions of drink.
Overall, gorgeous location, fabulous room and amazing staff.
Room Tip: A room facing to the front would give views of the hills, but I think these come at a premium.
