“Lovely, good value Scottish hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2012

We have stayed on several occasions at this hotel, most recently a special offer in January. The hotel is in a lovely area. Inside the public areas are great to relax in, whether beside the fire for pre dinner drinks, in the bay window for scones and tea or in the library across the way for after dinner coffee. The rooms are tastefully decorated and beds comfy. There is a dram for later. Mostly we have stayed in the superior rooms but this time we had one of the "ordinary" rooms at the back. Verdict - just as good. Probably will not spend the extra next time for a superior room. Food is excellent. Puddings to die for! The men in our group felt the helpings were not big enough but suited the ladies. There is a lively bar with music at the weekends - but not so lively as to disturb sleep. Staff are very friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: Glen Lyon if you want the best view. Bolfracks for value.

“Good to bargain”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 January 2012

Would recommend this hotel. Well decorated; clean; warm and comfortable; easy access; good internet connection (use mobile in the car park); excellent service (ask for milk in room); good food; well appointed public rooms. But also recommend looking to do a deal on the price - the list price is a little expensive.

“Fantastic Hotel, Lovely Staff & Gorgeous Food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 January 2012

We booked Fortingall Hall for one night just to get away. We managed to get it on a last minute deal (at 11am that morning) so the price was a quarter of the regular price. So my mark on price is based on that. Regular room at £200 is completely out of my budget, but keep an eye out for a deal. It was perfect. From the lovely white dressing gowns to the fantastic bed.

On our arrival we were greeted by a very smily and friendly GM who took us to our room. We had a 'standard' deluxe room which was rear facing. Complimentary whisky as well as probably the best coffee/tea tray I've ever come across! Ground coffee for the cafetiere and loose leaf tea for the pot. I was more than impressed!

We ate from the bar menu which featured your standard fish and burgers, but also braised shin of beef and a chicken liver & fois gras(sp?) parfait. Both myself and my partner were more than delighted with our food and drinks. The staff also accomodated for us by specially preparing a table for us in another room as the bar was full.

Unfortunately the only single downside was that the room was far too warm at night. We'd closed off all the radiators but didn't want to open the window given that it was blowing a gale and raining/snowing outside. Maybe compensating for the cold outside? Pity really given that the bed was SO comfortable! Nonetheless we left the next day feeling refreshed and relaxed.

I can't comment on the breakfast as my partner wasn't feeling up for breakfast at the time. But the menu looked fantastic.

On a final note, the staff were absolutely fantastic. The waitress with the glasses (Sorry, we didn't get your name?) genuinely gave us some of the best service we've received in such a long time. We havn't stopped going on about it. And the other lady that served us in the bar always had a smile and gave very good portions of drink.

Overall, gorgeous location, fabulous room and amazing staff.

Room Tip: A room facing to the front would give views of the hills, but I think these come at a premium.

“A Fantastic Hogmanay Stay!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 January 2012

We had the pleasure of staying at the hotel on the evening of the 31st Dec 2011. I cannot fault the staff or the service we received, nothing was too much trouble. The evening was reasonable in cost given the night in question. The location is absolutely stunning and if you want a stunning drive head out from the hotel to Glenlyon and then onto Ben Lawers simply breathtaking views. Special mention to Gavin (GM) he didnt appeat to stop for over 24hrs but still managed a warm farewell. Would certainly revisit!

Room Tip: All rooms are excellent, attic rooms have a restricted view.

“Gorgeous and romantic Scottish country hotel - perfect service and top food -”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 December 2011

This bespoke Scottish country hotel is nestled in at the foot of Glen Lyon, generally regarded as the finest glen in Scotland. We experienced perfect service, wonderful food with all requests discreetly catered for. We only stayed for one night, which is clearly not enough. We'll be back!

Room Tip: Try Glen Lyon room - and wake up to splendid views
