“Excellent value hotel.”

The bedrooms at this hotel could do with a bit of freshening up - a few marks on the paper and worn carpets, but the service was outstanding.

The meals were some of the best hotel food we've had, and we were never hungry afterwards - especially after the 6 course one !

Evening entertainment in the bar was a pleasant way to pass a Saturday night, and no rip-off bar prices.

“A magical christmas”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 January 2011

My husband & I with two other couples spent Christmas in the Breadalbane Hotel. We had four wonderful days. We travelled some 250 miles in the most appalling weather to get there. We were directed over the mountain to actually get to Aberfeldy as the main road was closed due to a most horrific and tragic accident. However we were able to experience the most wonderful sight/view ever. As it was dusk when we were driving down the road , we looked down into the town which was blanketed in snow with all the lights twinkling. It felt as if we were in Switzerland or Austria or entering Narnia. It was just magical.
Yes the hotel is looking rather shabby and needs a good refurb but Gill and her staff could not have been more friendly and accommodating. the sheets were fresh & clean as were the towels which if you wanted were changed every day, our room had very comfy beds (single) and were cleaned daily. The food was well cooked and presented and lots and lots of it ~ just really good home fare. The meats we expereienced were excellent ~ beef that cut like butter and melted in the mouth. If you want 'poncy' food drowned in poncy sauces (that hide a multitude of mistakes) don't go to Breadalbane, got to the posher places with much 'posher' prices!!!
We could not fault our stay in any way. We went on several easy walks around Aberfeldy and drove up to Killen which again was just magical. Yes it was very very cold but the views and sights were just amazing.
My husband & I have been very lucky and have travelled extensively ~ America & Europe & have been very lucky to have stayed in 5* hotels. Our experience was every bit as enjoyable on a different monetary level staying at Breadalbane.
We WILL return.
Thanks Gill & team and the very best of luck and good wishes for your 'dream'

“Most Ignorant Staff EVER”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 December 2010

Having booked this hotel for a 4 night Hogmany break, we have since cancelled due to the unprofessional, unhelpful and rude staff. After reading many of the horror stories associated with this hotel, my wife phoned asking if we could be assured of having a shower in our room, only to be told in the most obnoxious and impertinent manner, that we would have no shower or bath and that if we wanted one we should have asked on booking. Is it me or am I expecting too much in this day and age, to have the use of a shower in our room. On informing the girl at reception that we expected the hotel to have a shower in all the rooms she abruptly told my wife to "go find another hotel". My wife then informed the girl that she had paid a deposit the girl told her that she would send the deposit back and slammed the phone down on my wife. An extremely nice manner in which to run a business ........... NOT. With staff like this I wouldn't be surprised if this place closed down in the not so distant future. No wonder Scotland struggles as a tourist destination when staff treat people the way the staff at this hotel have treated us and many others. Hotel best avoided

“Great Value Short Break Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 November 2010

Wife and I had a four day midweek break and for eighty pounds dbb was not expecting too much. However, we were very pleasantly suprised. The quantity & quality of the food was incredible, the staff were all very pleasant, smiling and eager to please and the room was comfortable, clean and warm. Expectedly at such a price, the hotel showed signs of tiredness and Room 12 which we had, was on the second floor, through a series of passageways, doors, and stairs, which all added to the quirkiness. As there is no lift it is unsuitable for those with mobility difficulties.
Two of the nights the hotel provided entertainment, once in the sizeable resident's lounge and the second in the friendly public bar. Sadly, the second night was spoiled by three very noisy & worse for wear workmen who were resident in the hotel and tried to outdo the entertainers...... early night then, but that was harldy the hotel's fault.
The 4 course meal each night was excellent with plenty of choice and on the last evening and extra two courses was included!! What value!!!
Set in the heart of Perthshire, there are plenty of walks nearby - the Birks of Aberfeldy are just across the road, and plenty of beautiful scenery to explore in the car - or by bus!
All in all - a great hotel which restores my faith in Scottish tourism!

“Run down hotel in lovely Perthshire”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 November 2010

A group of us based ourselves in Aberfeldy and played the surrounding golf courses in Aberfeldy, Pitlochry and Dunkeld. Aberfeldy is a nice place as is the Schiehallion pub and Chillies Indian restaurant. This hotel was basic, clean but not value for money. The decor is tired and shabby and the public areas, especially leading to the dinning room, smell of old fat. The carpets are worn and threadbare and it could do with a total refurbishment. The twin room was clean and basic but there was only a bath which did not allow for a shower, either after the golf, or in the morning. Most unusual these days not to have one. The breakfast was ordinary and used cheap catering products. Another example of a hotel in Scotland just getting by, but not investing in in the framework of the building or raising standards to get repeat business.
