The hotel wasn't busy when we stayed. I think we were the only guests, although the restaurant and bar were certainly busy. I can't say our room was exciting but it was certainly perfectly adequate. The staff were most helpful, making us tea and even tumble-drying our clothes, after we arrived soaked through after cycling from the ferry terminal. The hotel is in a beautiful location right by the sea overlooking the harbour. Pierowall itself is a tiny place, but everyone we met was friendly and we have a wonderful time. The hotel has a restaurant and bar. We had dinner in the restaurant and I highly recommend having fish and chips especially if there is catfish available on the menu. I don't know about the rest of the menu, but the fish comes straight from the boats in the harbour and it was cooked to perfection.

Lovely location on this quiet island-- clean, friendly, helpful, relaxed hotel and staff --everything we needed on a hiking and relaxing holiday. We had a double ensuite room at front of the hotel which was large, clean, comfortable and newly decorated --not sure if all rooms were like this. Breakfast was reasonable to good by B&B standards. Lunches and evening meals served downstairs next to the bar were reaonably priced and very tasty --if not for the health-fanatic! This is not your luxury hotel but great mid-range option. Bar serves bottled Orkney ale.

We have two children one six and one seven. We stayed two nights in a family room at the Pierowall Hotel in Westray. We had a wonderful two nights there. The breakfasts were great. You could order anything you wanted for cooked breakfast. They had fresh fruit, fresh yoghurts and many different kinds of cereal and porridge to order. The service was excellent. The staff are very friendly and hardworking, nothing is to much to make your stay there perfect.

Our room was a large en-suite room with two windows. We had a TV and a hairdryer, electric heater as well as central heating. The room had tea and coffee facilities and electric blankets just incase you were cold as well as extra blankets in the wardrope. our en-suite was large with shower unit which was also large and also had many different kinds of soaps etc.

We ate there two nights in a row the Hotel Restaurant is always busy with tourists as well as locals. This is a great sign as the Hotel is now under new management it means they agree with the tourists that the service is good as well as well as the food.
The food is excellent and is fresh and all local as much as possible.

We certainly would recommend this Hotel to people with children or teenagers. The Hotel also does carry outs which is also very busy with locals and other tourists campers etc.,

We are not related or have ever met the owners before. But we will again next year for our family holiday and for longer next time. So if you are booking ths Hotel I advise you to book early in plenty of time so that you will not be disappointed as this Hotel is busy all year round.

The play park for young children is within walking 5 mins max distance. It is excellent it is beside the school and football pitches and netball area. Many local children use it so this is an excellent way to met children for your children to play with and form new friends.

There is also a swimming pool on the Island as well as a children's activity centre next door to the Hotel. Our kids had a great time there.

The Pierowall Hotel has more of a feel of a large B&B than a hotel and this gives it more of a personal edge over many UK hotels I can think of. GBP26 for single occupancy of a double bed with basin - shared shower room next door. Lack of ensuite facility did not unduly bother me. The price is good and comes with a good scottish breakfast to set you up for the day.

I ate in the restaurant the night before and enjoyed the local fish which was very good. Only downside was the service was slow -20 to 25 minutes from ordering for both main course and desert.
