“Wonderful - best of breed !”

We stayed for two nights at the Mill of Eyrland - and it was a wonderful time. We had a warm welcome although we arrived late and the family room right under the roof was perfect. The atmosphere is charming and we a had a great breakfast (fruit and plenty of joghurt!). We felt right at home and if we will come to Orkney again - there is no doubt - we'll choose the Mill of Eyrland!!

“Very comfortable and homely place to stay - recommended!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 August 2011

Stayed 2 nights at the end of August 2011 and thoroughly enjoyed our room (the Mill Burn) and the Mill itself. Very historic building beautifully restored and full of cosy nooks and crannies. The bourbon biscuits in the room was a nice touch after a rainy day, and the breakfast spread was excellent (although you can skip the sausages - not great!). Would stay again - recommended for comfort.

“Pefect”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 July 2011

This is a Bed and Breakfast with lots of character. You will feel welcomed and at home staying with Morag. The Mill is in a beautiful countryside setting yet close to many sites you will want to visit. The breakfast room and the breakfast was as good as it gets. It would be hard to find a better situation on the Orkney Islands.

“Magical home in a magical place.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 July 2011

This B&B is probably the best we have ever used. This is largely to do with the personality of Morag, the owner. She has blended the age of the mill with modern comforts. There are interesting objects everywhere - some to do with the old mill and some just because they are interesting. The beds are absolute luxury - all soft mattress toppings and useful layers, spotlessly clean, as is the whole place. En-suites do not impinge on the lovely old rooms - they are more than adequate, but don't take up half the room, as in some places we have stayed in.The communal breakfast table provided amusing and informative chat every day, helped along by Morag's tales of local life. The breakfasts were yummy and there was a good choice every day. Margaret, who helps her, is also friendly, fun and hard-working. You can take your kids and dogs without being pressurised with loads of house rules. If you want a 'home from home' with fun and slightly quirky surroundings, this is your place.
I should add that the area it is in is convenient and beautiful. Orkney is superb.

Room Tip: You don't need a tip. All the rooms are lovely.

“A proper home from home.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 July 2011

A beautiful mill surrounded by fabulous countryside. The room was very comfortable and sympathetically dressed to reflect the beauty of the Mill. A very warm and cheerful welcome, much appreciated after the ferry trip over from the mainland. By the time we left we really wished we could have stayed longer. Everything you could think of was available for breakfast, and the cooked breakfast had to be seen to be believed. Put it this way, we didn't need to eat again until the evening!! Generous in every way, from the accommodation, to the breakfast to conversation and true feeling of friendship. Very sad to leave. Will most certainly stay in touch with Morag and intend to return.
