The hotel is not in Glasgow, it's about 10 miles east, just off the main Glasgow to Edinburgh road. Journey time into Glasgow could be over an hour delending on traffic.
On line booking doesn't accept debit cards which is a nuisance.
This chain sets out to be functional rather than 5 star but what they do they do well. Reception and restaurant staff were all helpful. They have the natural friendliness for which this part of Scotland is famous.
Our room was huge for two of us. It would be cramped for a family of four but it would also be exceptionally cheap. It was spotlessly clean. The whole hotel is now non smoking so there should be no repeat of a previous reviewer who smelled stale smoke in their room. Internet access is available but costs extra.
We were on the ground floor facing the car park and the restaurant / bar but even on a Saturday night there was very little noise. The restaurant menu is up-market bar food rather than anything fancy. There's a decent choice and the quality is good. The only alternative eating out places are a car or taxi ride away.
At first glance it looks like this hotel is in the middle of nowhere but with your own transport it's convenient for places such as New Lanark that are not as well known as they should be.
