The hotel is not in Glasgow, it's about 10 miles east, just off the main Glasgow to Edinburgh road. Journey time into Glasgow could be over an hour delending on traffic.
On line booking doesn't accept debit cards which is a nuisance.
This chain sets out to be functional rather than 5 star but what they do they do well. Reception and restaurant staff were all helpful. They have the natural friendliness for which this part of Scotland is famous.
Our room was huge for two of us. It would be cramped for a family of four but it would also be exceptionally cheap. It was spotlessly clean. The whole hotel is now non smoking so there should be no repeat of a previous reviewer who smelled stale smoke in their room. Internet access is available but costs extra.
We were on the ground floor facing the car park and the restaurant / bar but even on a Saturday night there was very little noise. The restaurant menu is up-market bar food rather than anything fancy. There's a decent choice and the quality is good. The only alternative eating out places are a car or taxi ride away.
At first glance it looks like this hotel is in the middle of nowhere but with your own transport it's convenient for places such as New Lanark that are not as well known as they should be.

my second time staying in a holiday inn, the first one being in bathgate, which was fabulous, and this time was the same. I was a bit wary when I arrived as the reception area is a bit dated, but our room number 61 seemed to be in the new part, was the usual premier inn standard, very comfortable and spotlessly clean. The Bar/ restaurant next door, which was very easily accessed from the inn (covered access) was lovely, food and service was very good. There was a garden with a play area which would make this premier suitable for families. Great value for money, and I would use this premier inn again.

We have just spent two nights at this Inn, which is situated really close to Junction 6 of the M8 and is really convenient for Motherwell, Wishaw, etc.

They seem to be extending it at the present time, because there was building work going on. But this did not inconvenience us in any way. I have stayed at a few Premier Inns and this one is the same as all the rest- in other words, it is perfectly clean, warm, friendly and convenient.

We stayed in room 39 and there was a slight smell of cigarette smoke in the corridor, and also in the room itself. I guess that many people still choose to smoke in the privacy of their hotel rooms, although of course it is strictly forbidden nowadays. But nearly everyone in the whole Motherwell/Wishaw area seems to walk about with a cigarette dangling from their lips so perhaps we shouldn't have been surprised.

I can't fault this Premier Inn, and I must say the staff were very cheerful and polite. There is also a really good pub next door which serves meals, breakfasts etc.

  • Liked — I thought the staff were very friendly, and the car park had CCTV which was good.
  • Disliked — You don't really expect to smell cigarette smoke in a hotel nowadays.

Rooms are small and not nearly as nice as their pictures on the website indicate. No business facilites. No telephone in rooms. I have not stayed in any other Glasgow hotel, so I can not compare, but based on other hotels in the UK (Manchester and Bedfordshire) this one is not that good.

It would be ok for an overnight stay on a long road trip, but definitely not if you have business in the area.
