“A Bowl of Chips!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2012

The Stotfield Hotel and its managers and staff, star again. Went into the hotel on the 3rd Feb 2012 for a meal with 2 of my friends. Please bare in mind that this was at 7.30pm at night. We made our way into the bar area and asked if we could have a table for 3 people. We were told to take a table and we waited for the waitress to take our drinks order. When the waitress came over, we ordered our drinks and then asked for the food menu. She bagan to laugh and said that they had stopped serving food. She explained that because there was a table of 17 in having a meal, the chef had asked them to stop serving food. We all looked around and couldnt believe our eyes. The table of 17 and our table were the only tables in the restaurant. I then proceeded to ask the waitress if we could just order a couple of the starters and again she said no. She thought the chef could stretch to a couple of bowls of chips, but she would have to ask. We looked at the menu and saw it had normal chips and gourmet chips. So we asked her if the gourmet chips were homemade. She proceeded to screw her face up and said that they didnt have time to make homemade chips and that they bought all their chips frozen from the suppliers. Im assuming one of the well known suppliers that deliver pre prepared food for convinence, as they are frequently seen there blocking the road.

When the waitress came back with the drinks, she just plonked the wine bottle down on the table and the glasses and walked away. She didnt even ask if we wanted to taste it.

After our delightful bowls of chips (Not), we complained to the waiter and was told to speak to reception. After explaining to the girl behind reception about the service, i asked to speak to the owners. She preceeded to say "They are not the owners, they are just the managers. You do know they are partners?" Not sure why she made that comment? She then explained that they are only in the hotel between 7.30am and 9.30am. Im totally amazed that 2 managers are not present in their business for more than just 2 hours. They are obviously not that dedicated to running the hotel. But then it shows as every other time i have been in the hotel, they are nowhere to be seen.

After 7 visits to this hotel under the new management, it is sad that we have had 4 horrendous experiences, 2 mere average experiences and 1 that was excellent. But unfortunately the bad experiences outweigh the good.

It is about time the managers and staff got their acts together and started to treat their customers alot better than they are doing. If they can only cope with 17 people at once. God help them when they have a wedding party to deal with.

I will also add, if they had served us, we would have had starters, main course (Hot Rocks), puddings and bottles of wine. This would have come to the best part of £200.

YOUR LOSE STOTFIELD HOTEL.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

We booked to of our suppliers into this hotel as they were up at our offices.
We joined them for a meal and drinks and had a really nice time.
We had steak on the hot rock which i found really tasty and a great idea.
The view over the beach and the golf course is fantastic and a added bonus.

“Hogmany”

Booked 2 rooms for our party of 6,was told interconnecting rooms were available and recieved this in booking confirmation. arrived December 31 to be given keys 230 &231,thought great !!. Until we went upstairs and saw that rooms 230 & 231 are actually 5 rooms apart in an L shaped corridor and with a fire door between !!! What a wierd way to number the rooms , apart from the inconvenience this caused us and wasnt what we were told we would get !!.Would have thought that the management would have known this ??.
Went for breakfast new years morning ,to be told by breakfast staff that they hadnt been told of our party size , so we had to cram around a 4 seater table !!!.

Room 230 ... Greasy hand smears on tiles in shower above water controls, shower basin covered in " particles". the beds arent hoovered underneath very often, as found a £1 coin whilst lookin for my daughters toy....Cant complain !!! Otherwise clean.

Room 231... Kids complained that whilst looking under bed for ear ring back , lifted bed up to see loads of bugs flyin about !!!! All 3 kids were bit freaked !!

On a positive note .. Had a great nights sleep... ,altough we were there to meet friends and attend a hogmany party,we came back to silent hotel and a good nights sleep!!.

Staff were all very friendly and helpfull .

Alan cole

Room Tip: Make sure you dont get a room on the top floor!!

“Excellent location. Good hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 December 2011

I arrived here after a long journey, like most travellers to Lossiemouth. There is limited specific parking but the road outside has plenty of space. There is a ramp to the front door and a lift too.

The hotel is quite large. My room was very nice. The view was not impressive but then I am sure they charge a premium for the view out to sea. The bed was comfortable. Lossiemouth is quite quiet at night so sleep is not a problem. The bathroom was fine.

Breakfast was as ordered. It was good.

The staff were friendly and helpful. There is free internet downstairs and payable in the rooms.

I love Scotland so I may be a little bias but it is a lovely location.
