“They couldnt have been more fantastic”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

What a lovely place, filled with super staff.
We stayed for 3 nights and didnt really want to leave. Nothing was too much for the staff and the room was just beautiful. Roses on the bed. Champagne on ice. Chocolate coated strawberries, wow! And the food there is utterly delicious.
We had breakfast in bed on our last day and just cannot fault the service at all.
An amazing place in so many ways, we will certainly return!!! I just hope its sooner rather than later......

Room Tip: We had the Benromach room, lovely, large room and super king bed. Small bathroom with single size ba...

“Home from home”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 December 2011

The welcome we received when we arrived was excellent, from the lady who checked us in right up to the owner of the hotel nothing was a problem. All very cheery and helpful. The rest of the staff we encountered were all as good as each other. We ate dinner on the second night and the food and wine were very good. All in all a great place to get away from it all, but with the comforts of a country house hotel.

On arrival you walk in to the front lobby which is very dark ( whole hotel is like this ) and was so cold. Could not tell who was guests or staff !! The scandivian room is so poor, not 1 bit of wood in it. Change the room name please !! The bathroom needs a good clean with bleach, omg and the toilet is black, you can see this better when your sitting in the bath. By the way the bath is not a bath for 2 !! Dinner was lovely:-)) Had to wait half an hour for our breakfast and it wasen't worth the wait !! They were so quite 2. Then we paid the bill and all we got said to us was safe journey. Could she not of asked us did you enjoy your stay ? Or made a little conversation lol. This hotels website looks lovely and a very special place, that it is not the case. Don't waste your money !!

Dear Midge5,

Thank you for your review. Indeed our hall is traditional, the Scots Pine panelling encourages this approach along with the welcoming fire. The Lounge is a lighter affair, again with a welcoming stove. The Scandinavian Room named by our guests and the press, is our most requested room. We are sorry that you did not enjoy it in the same way as others have. Sometimes you have to hold your hands up and plead guilty as charged. Since your observation we have been studying our bathrooms closely and where necessary steam cleaning and improving our training and process sheets. However I do wish you had brought this to our attention during your stay as we could have taken action immediately, we are sure you will understand.

“Almost Perfect”

Knockomie is a lovely extended "arts and crafts" house in a nice quiet setting just outside Forres. The public rooms are individually-styled - very fresh dining room (with comfy chairs!), lovely wood-panelled bar and snug library / TV lounge.

We stayed 3 nights in mid-November (dinner, bed and breakfast).

Our bedroom (Glenlivet) on the ground floor was spacious, with good seating area, plenty of wardrobe space and a large, comfortable double bed.

Let's get the les-than-perfect bit out of the way now. The ensuite bath / shower facilities were "tired". Good powerful shower, but the screen leaked; the extractor wasn't working; the tiled floor was positively icy; paint was a bit scruffy. Nice hot towel rail though, and the room was good and clean.

Food at both dinner and breakfast was superb - freshly cooked to perfection and imaginativelt presented. The duck "special" and shin of beef merit particular praise. There's a decent selection of wine, much of which is sensibly priced.

The outstanding feature of the hotel, though, is the staff - everybody was friendly (without being too familiar), helpful and discreet. Either their staff selection or training (or both) are inspired.

Overall, this hotel is a gem - and not overy expensive for what it delivers. With luck, we'll be back.

Room Tip: It's a fairly quiet spot, so shouldn't be any noise problems. Suggest you discuss your requi...

Dear Clarsach,

Sometimes you get a review that just makes us as a team feel better, and that our efforts are appreciated. Our team really loved the special mention as they are proud of what they are doing. Your observation on the bathroom won’t be ignored, the super sized towel rail came from a guest suggestion. Above all we will look forward to welcoming you back to Knockomie. Thank you.
