Stayed in a nearby holiday house but ate here twice. Given that it was the middle of winter and Kildonan is a small community, the hotel is an important local facilty in winter. As well as accomodation, it houses the only shop for miles around, a bar, and a place to lunch and dine . But don't expect too much by way of a dining experience. The conservatory style dining area struggled to be warm (but, to be fair, it was bitter winter weather outside ). Service was good, food average to good and we had a good time. The separate bar is cosy with a pool table, dart board and a popular haunt of friendly locals. The owners organise events and evenings. They obviously work very hard to keep the hotel at the heart of the community and it's nice to become a part of that.
If I was thinking of holidaying in the summer on the Isle of Arran, then this hotel would be well up there as a palce I would chose. The beach and rock pools are a stones throw away. The seascape is stunning. The hotel is welcoming and warm. A perfect get away. And they cater for weddings!
