“Reliable, consistent, no airs & graces”

Not somewhere to go a for candlelight supper, but if you are looking for good, honest local produce at reasonable prices with generous portions, the place to go. Superb collection of beers, wines & spirits. Good variety on the menu with plenty of veggie stuff. Friendly staff. Seen some of the previous reviews - I think if you went here with an attitude problem, expecting linen napkins then you will probably not enjoy it. I've been going here for years and really can't fault it, although the prices seem to be creeping up, not a "wallet buster".

Have never seen, let alone used the rooms so this review is about the bar / food only

Loved the atmosphere Aaron blond and bar food - especially venison casserole. Saw Bob and Cams ( chalk and cheese ) really entertaining - Keep music live - very friendly place.

“Canny whack it :-)”

We're not frequent residents, but we are frequent visitors. As residents we had a nice clean room, good shower, everything worked - did what it says on tin etc. As visitors (we normally rent a flat), it suits us perfectly - good food, great ale, and we love the live, impromptu music. Someone cast aspersions on the grand old conservatory. Yes of course it's ancient and could do with a spruce up, but for many that is part of the "Dale's" special appeal - completely unspoilt and unfazed by passing fashion. Lei it alane!

“Real Ale and good food”

A cosy bar with open fire. Choice of 3 ales most nights and the cheapest found on the island. Good selection of no nonsense pub food including veggie options. Staff friendly and helpful especially the landlord. Ideal venue for a pint and food after a long hike.
