“Home Base away from Home”

This lovely bed & breakfast is very central to what one wants to see in Brodick and the rest of the island. The place is kept immaculately, and very friendly hosts. The breakfast was very hearty and home-made (including smoked trout fish cakes). The sitting area was made warm with a fire stove each night. I and a friend stayed on Arran for 4 days, hiking about the island and exhausting ourselves with long walks (Machrie Moor). It was especially nice knowing we came back to such a nice comfortable abode.

“A perfect place to stay on Arran”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 September 2011

Alltan B&B is a beautiful relaxing place to stay. From the moment you walk in, you feel that you are comfortable and at home.

The house is so warm and cosy, if you don’t go out for the evening or come back early, you feel as if you’ve come home to your own comforts in a relaxed environment.

The dressing gowns and lovely biscuits certainly enhance this comfort, as does being able to control the level of heating in the room, so you can be as warm or cool as you like.

Heather and Terry are excellent hosts, they are there if you want them for anything but they leave you to come and go as you please, as if you were coming in to your own house after a day out.

Our room, room 1, was much larger than expected, we were so pleased with the space we had and the bathroom was also of a substantial size. (You can also see Goatfell from the bathroom window which is great)

We didn’t take advantage of the guest lounge in the evening but it is certainly big enough to accommodate all guests, it is very spacious with lots of natural light and should you be lucky enough to enjoy some sunshine, the patio overlooks the garden which would be a great place to relax after a day out.

Also, one thing which we found beneficial was that Heather or Terry would take our wet outdoor walking gear downstairs to dry out overnight, which was very helpful, as the boots and waterproofs did get challenged on our visit.

There is so much I could say about Alltan, it is just perfect and when we return to Arran, we will look forward to staying here again.

“Alltan is Allgood”

Saw ALLTAN on the Arran website and decided to give it a try for our first visit to the island. We are so glad we did. It did everything it says on the tin and more. Our room was beautifully decorated and furnished to a very high standard as was the rest of the house. We particulalry loved the porch off the living room .It was a lovely place to sit and listen to birdsong and and the little river flowing past. . Heather was a charming host, and Terry`breakfasts were legendary. Will be back. Peter Meechan

“A perfect B & B!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 June 2011

We stayed at Alltan during a weekend in June for a friend's 40th birthday. This could possibly be the best B&B I've ever stayed in. The house is beautifully laid out and spotless with modern pristine furniture and an attention to detail which is second to none. Heather and Terry were perfect hosts and the breakfasts were great. Heather was very helpful when I was looking for somewhere to chill our celebratory champagne and provided us with lovely glasses too. I would certainly choose Alltan over a hotel any day.

Thank you very much from Karen-Ann, Stephen, Peter and Suzanne.

“our favorite B&B”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 June 2011

Alltan was our favorite B&B (out of 9 total) on our recent trip through Scotland. The breakfasts included delicious home-made apricot conserve, and on our last morning, Heather made special smoked trout cakes. There is a large living room with books and pamphlets on walks, island history, birds, and menus for local restaurants. When we got back after dinner, there was a cozy fire in the living room. Everything was high quality. The location, on a quiet street in Brodick within walking distance of shops, was convenient for exploring Arran by car. Because we are in the U.S., it was a bit of a bother to pre-pay a one-night deposit by wire transfer, but well worth the effort for such an outstanding place.
